Men's Golf

Fitzpatrick, Gillam, Sterbinsky, and Young all tee off at the U.S. Amateur down at Pinehurst today. Won't be able to get there until Friday, so hoping that someone can make a run. They're splitting play between No. 2 and No. 4 this year. While No. 2 is the most well known, No. 4 is going to present a great, different challenge. I was down there a few weeks ago and both courses are in phenomenal shape.

Fitzpatrick comfortably makes the cut to final 64. Gillam and Young look safe at +4 for the moment. Pretty nice showing overall.

Should be noted that Alex's brother Matt won the US Am at Brookline six years ago. Must be a cool feeling for him to compete in this event.

Fitzpatrick is safe at this point. If the scores hold I think Gillam and Young will have to get out of the playoffs tomorrow morning to make it to match play.

With 2 playing as tough as it is, Gillam and Young should be in the T64 sans playoff since they're both finished.

After play was suspended yesterday, stroke play was finished up this morning. Fitzpatrick is through and Young and Gillam both avoided the playoff to make it through to match play.

27 players playing for the final 3 spots in the US Amateur match play bracket.....this playoff could take a while!

Really glad that Young and Gillam were able to avoid the playoff. With 27 guys going for the last 3 spots it really puts a lot of pressure on you to birdie that first hole.

Fitzpatrick wins 5 and 4 to go to the round of 32. Young down 1 through 4 holes. Gillam should be teeing off soon.

Fitzpatrick is up 1 through 2 holes so far. Gillam goes off at 10:20. Both the round of 32 and round of 16 will be played today.

If the scorecard online is right, Fitzpatrick just hit an albatross on a 585 yard par 5 or Trent conceded super early in the hole.

Parker draws former US Am finalist Brad Dalke today. Dude has been in college for about 8 years now. Probably has chest hair older than Parker.

Wow!
Even an eagling a hole that long would be very impressive.
But a 2????

Wonder if there’s a record for the longest albatross hole?

Decent chance his opponent had a lost ball or something and conceded the hole before Alex hit his 2nd shot. Also, he's lost the last two holes in a row, and the match is tied. Parker even through 3.
