Mortal Kombat II

Baraka was my favorite.

As for ranking the games, Virtua Fighter > the rest.

I enjoyed Virtua Fighter, Fighting Vipers, and the Dead or Alive games (which were/are an evolution of the VF style). They were good fill-ins while MK was doing their mostly forgettable PS2 games and solid games on their own terms, but as a franchise VF doesn't compare. At the time, though, VF2 was amazing.

As for MK, Scorpion, Kung Lao and Baraka for me.

I liked Dead or Alive, but more for the counter system than the boob physics.

That game deserved to be a lot better.

Anyone play Eternal Champions on SEGA GENESIS?

Had the Sega CD version. Thought the characters and stage kills were cool, but it didn't really play that well.

oh man fighting vipers. that had the kid with the skateboard right?

Yeah. I had Fighters Megamix for the Saturn (still do, actually), which had all the characters from VF2 and Fighting Vipers plus a bunch of really stupid stuff like the Daytona USA car. The main difference between VF and FV (see what they did there?) was the addition of an armor mechanic and walls for the arena.
