I've listened to this one a few times already and it never really pulled me in the way their previous three did.
Yeah, when this one ended and Spotify started playing Trouble will find me, I instantly like it better.
7. The War on Drugs - A Deeper Understanding
More Philly stuff. One man band.
I hadn't listened to this one but was hoping to see a cover of "The War On Drugs/Suck My Cock." No such luck.
Nearly every song is in excess of six minutes, which really just kind of signals that they all follow the same basic formula with layered instrumentals that extend a little longer than most rock songs.
Pretty sure "Pain" follows the same chord progression of some Coldplay song.
Reminiscent of some of Wilco's better albums, but not as good.
Some of these songs are way too dreamy.
Sounds like he's mimicking bob Dylan on "You Don't Have To."
