NBA Thread

I just assumed people are referring to the first series win for the Durant/Westbrook/Harden/Ibaka "core." Who knows.

How ever it happened, three of the five gmaes were decided by long shots in the last minute.

You could also look at Game 5 that SA was up for more of the game. Wasn't it almost the end of the 3rd Quarter beofer Memphis cauht them? I know SA was up seven with about minutes left in the third quarter.

BTW in 23 games as a Griz, Lizard head is shooting 33.3% on threes..and he's only taking 1.8/game. He's not exactly their first option for a last second shot.

This series have been close. It's surprising to many that it's close, but it has been close.

Hahahaha a made 3 pointer is lucky? Wow spurs fans have completely lost it

haha. Did you see the posts on this thread after Dallas blew their 23-point game 4 lead against the Blazers???

It's the playoffs. Shit happens. Great players often rise to the occasion. The reason I think the Spurs still have a very good chance of winning this series is execution. While Ginobili's 3 was wildly poorly executed, for the most part, the Spurs have executed at critical moments in this series. They've just missed shots.

I do agree with bmoney that the Spurs will have to hit their 3s to win game 6, but that's like saying Kobe is going to have to score 25 points. Of course the Spurs are going to have hit 3s - that's how they won 60 games. Fortunately, for the year, they are the best 3-point shooting team in the league.

Here's the thing, the Spurs have made some adjustments, but not quite enough. Usually Manu or Tony get into the paint, draw the D, and kick it out to a shooter. The Grizz have been pretty disciplined AND they hare hitting Parker and Manu on the drive, knocking them off balance. Pretty wily strategy, and it has worked. Conley bodies Parker on every drive and Allen knees Manu when he can. If the refs call some of those bumps on Conley in game 6, it changes everything. Or they need to hit contested 3s. I would guess that Bonner, Manu, and George Hill are going to be crucial.

But I like the Spurs chances

Can I admit that I'm rooting against the Spurs just to hasten the inevitable breakup of the Duncan/Ginobli/parker core? I'd like to see them trade Parker and shake things up.

On a related note, I'm rooting against the Magic for the same reason; the quicker and more dramatic that Orlando flames out, the greater Dwight Howard's frustration will grow such that Orlando will be forced to trade him or see him pull a 'Melo next February.

No matter what happens in this series, I think Parker is gone. It's a shame the Knicks don't have anything to give up for him.

How about some bizarro three way trade in which Parker goes to NO, CP3 goes somewhere and Okafor to SA?

What gives with people saying OKC won its FIRST playoff series?

The Thunder is the Seattle Sonics. they have an NBA title don't they?

First series win in OKC and no one on the team has ever won a series with that organization. I'm fine with calling it the first.

I think it is interesting that people are saying over the course of the last 5 games Memphis has shown itself to be the much better team. They have looked pretty good, but over the 82 before that, the Spurs had proven to be the FAR superior team. As some who doesn't particularly like either team (though cheer for Timmy and Ish individually), but it's hard to say one team is clearly better suited to win the series. I'm sure I'm not going out on a limb when I say that I'm pretty sure the winner of games 6 wins the series.

Looks like RJ forgot to take his meds again.

"You disagree with me? Well yourz WRONG and I usea thel LOGIC!!!!!!!!!"

He's only arguing that the series has been tight for 19 of the 20 quarters; that's it.

Battier's 3 rims out as I thought it was going to you when it hit the rim, the whole story around this series is completely different.

Add to that, if Battier's 3 rims out AND Neal misses his 3, the whole story leading up to game 6 is different as well.

The series is close. In fact, Memphis and SA's records over the last 40 games is virtually identical.

both teams were 33-18 after january 1 leading up to the playofs i do believe.

just to make sure my position is not being misrepresented, i think the series has been close, but memphis has been a little better and is rewarded with a 3-2 lead with a chance to close out at home.

With respect to the San Antonio-Memphis series, it all evens out in the end.

I actually think the Magic/Hawks tilt is the most interesting game of the night. On the one hand, Atlanta is playing at home and until Game 5, the Magic's perimeter players have been a fairly unique form of garbage. The Hawks have the chance to close out the series and have historically been a tough matchup for Orlando due to their athleticism and size on the perimeter. But Orlando is objectively better--and has by far the best single player playing in the series--and won the last game by 4 million points. Who wins?

my predictions of game 6 winners- lakers, hawks, grizz, blazers (with mavs winning g7 at home)

I like NO, Orlando and Blazers. I'm going to pick the Spurs but more of a homer pick, and the NO pick is more just because I don't like the Lakers and want them to suffer greatly.

Cumberland - can you just change your handle to NeumanDeac?

Why does Shawn Marior have 5 shot attempts to Dirks 1 half way through the 1st?
