I don't see how metrics are the problem, at least for WF this season. If the metrics meant more, we'd be in the tournament. St. John's had better metrics than us and got left out. We don't know how the committee is considering metrics at all, which may be my biggest criticism. Virginia had bad metrics and got in. There is still a lot of horse trading and such.
Teams like ND, GT, FSU being awful in the occ and then being competitive in the conference slate is absolutely killing us. Louisville being a joke is hurting us.
We need more ACC teams to be like Clemson - good in occ, meh in conference = perceived strength. Part of that is scheduling, and part of that is winning the freaking games. LSU and Georgia were not that great this season, and we lost to both of them. Utah is decent, and we lost that, too.
We are going to have at least five or six Q1/Q2 games before the ACC season starts next year based on what Forbes said recently. We can't win one or two of those or we are again looking at needing 13-15 ACC wins to have a real shot. There is nothing we can do to avoid that, those games are that important and we need the rest of the ACC teams to not lose to the Citadel.
Forbes has been terrible in neutral-site games, that is something that has to be better next year or we are looking for a new coach.
