Obama's belief in decorum and the process of handing over power kept him from helping the country from potentially years of problems. He should have made a recess appointment to the Supreme Court and filled all federal judicial vacancies with his people.

He should have put a person like Deval Patrick or Lawrence Tribe into the Supreme Court vacancy. They would have only lasted until about Xmas of 2017, but they could block whatever cases are being heard for the rest of this term and greatly impact what will be heard in fall/spring session starting next October.

This was critically important and should have been done.

The same would have been true for all the vacancies the Senate blocked.

Not doing the above was a critical and serious blunder.

Good point. That would have helped heal the partisan divide.

Would have been a strong move for the country that would not have set a bad precedent for future presidents.

Can't believe he missed that layup.

If you are talking about the three minute recess on January 3, even Justice Breyer has ruled this wouldn't fly.

Obama was never going to make a recess SCOTUS appointment. It's pretty bad for the country to play partisan political games like that with the Supreme Court.

You did hear Mitch McConnell announce how angry they would be if the Democrats did the exact same thing they've been doing for a year now?

Yes. Blatant reckless hypocritical obfuscation aside, playing games with SCOTUS nominees isn't good for the country.

Like mcConnell did about this position?

Like McConnell did by setting a recrod for obstruction?

Yep. McConnell's actions were unprecedented in US history.

Why should he help heal the partisan divide when the other side has amplified it to the extent they deprived a sitting president of a confirmation hearing on his Supreme Court nominee?

to save us, he should've appointed donald trump to the SCOTUS during the recess

There's your first problem, putting the good of the country before party and personal interest.

Obama even getting elected was unprecedented in history. Maybe the most "entitled" president ever elected and definitely the most under-qualified. Neighborhood organizer, very brief state legislator with no legislative achievement. Single term U.S. Senator devoting his entire time to being president. So he left no academic legacy, no legislative legacy, troubled associations with the Jeremiah Wright, a white-hating preacher & Bill Ayers, a real-life terrorist. Never worked for any university and never sat for the Illinois state bar. He was always passed along because??? From Occidental [undistinguished grades] to Columbia. State legislature to U.S. Senate, U.S. Senate to POTUS because??? "entitled". No character as everything that goes wrong is somebody else's fault. Been that way his entire 8 years.
Tried to keep blaming Bush the first 4 years. Yet he wanted this job and he was going to fix it. Never tried to work with Congress after he lost everything in 2010. Always the "smartest" man in the room so he didn't need anybody else. Just let Harry & Nancy blame Bush, John & John. [remember Clinton worked with Newt].

Yes sir, the only thing this guy will be responsible for is his landslide legacy--The Republican landslide he caused that are all records:
33 Governorships, 68 of 98 Chambers controlled, 4171 of 7383 Legislative seats controlled, 25 Total chambers controlled with G/state house/state senate, Tea Party put to rest, no "bench" for the Dems for many national candidates, a probable 7-2 SCOTUS advantage in 4 years [Scalia, Ginsburg, Kennedy & Breyer], OBummerCare repealed, Iran Nuclear deal repealed, The Wall being built and further strength being drawn after the 2020 Census lines get redrawn.

Yes, thank you Barrack Hussein Obama! You have answered the Republican Party's prayers.

Obama is a smart guy, a steady president, and a classy human. You are a petty old fart shouting at clouds.

Oh yea, Obummer is always the smartest guy in the room. Crappy president and because of him the Republicans have rolled to their biggest national dominance since the 1930's. Because of the Affordable Health Care Act, which he ramrodded thru without any member of Congress reading any of the 100's of pages, many of his own Senators & Congressmen lost their jobs in 2010. He tried to get it thru so fast with so many economy busting ramifications that are now bearing fruit, that it has cost Democrats all semblance of any hope or respectability. [remember, you can keep your own doctor and keep your own health plan] When health care premium renewals started coming out this fall right before the election, Hillary was doomed, all glimmer of hope faded along with the leaking Wikis. The failed promises of "read my lips, no new taxes" doomed George H.W. Bush and this one helped to doom Hillary & ALL the Democratic Party for years to come.

Thanks OBummer.......this is your legacy....maybe Michelle is now proud to be an American.
