That's true. Oden benefited from Lebron.
plus he was one of the first pure STUDS that had to go to college

oden was pretty legit but i mean i was more impressed by embiid in one college season than i was by oden
i felt like oden was just riding a wave of hype from people waiting for the next lebron/high school phenom
Embiid is a more unique talent but his injury concerns in college are worse than Oden's I think.
Oden was awesome in the national championship game against Florida in 2007.

Yeah, but Embiid missed tourney games with a back problem. Oden didn't miss any games in college IIRC, but almost immedietly blew out his knee with the ZERS. Backs and knees for big men, you don't wanna mess with that shit.
Didn't Oden have a broken hand or something to start his year at tosu?

MIAMI—While admitting that getting it over with quickly would have been the best thing to do, members of the Miami Heat confirmed Tuesday that they simply can’t bring themselves to tell their fans the team lost the NBA Finals. “I know this is the kind of thing they deserve to hear directly from us, but it would just crush them,” said power forward LeBron James, adding that he doubted he would even be able to look fans in the eye while completely blindsiding them with the devastating news that the Heat fell to the San Antonio Spurs in five games. “They were so ecstatic after the last two championships—I mean, you should’ve seen the looks on their faces when we told them—so I just don’t want to be the one to break their hearts like this. Maybe Chris [Bosh] can do it; they already hate him anyway.” At press time, Heat players had reportedly agreed to just say they had won the championship since their fans would never know the difference
I saw Oden live in Atlanta and was convinced he was the next big thing. Shame.
no shame in that
i saw lots of really great guys that ended up in the NBA and shavlik randolph is still the best high school player i saw (outside of when lebron played against rjr in greensboro)
