Also lol at Cousins with 2 goaltends and moving screen in last two mins. Soo Boogie
So true.
The thing I find interesting is that so much has changed in free agency as a result of the last few weeks:
* Boogie Cousins is not a max player. Yes, he is recovering from an achilles and then the calf, but he is simply too heavy and hasn't shown the discipline to change his body type. He went from a possibly max contract to short-term $10mil per year deal somewhere - probably for a bad team who can gamble on his health, fitness, and be okay with some locker room me-me-me.
* If there was any doubt that Klay Thompson is a max deal guy, that debate can be put to bed.
* Steph IS actually still Steph
* Kawhi is going to get his, but that wasn't up for debate. He was one last second shot away from carrying a team to a championship. That may still happen, but wow, the last four minutes of the game - up until the last shot
* I think Dray Green was a possible trade piece in the summer. No more. I dislike him, but dude has fucking balled.
* Malcolm Brogdon return from injury and clutch player across multiple games earned him $10 a year this summer. Essentially he made himself upwards of $30mil extra over the next 5 years.
* Obviously, Kevin Durant injury.
* Danny Green has earned himself another $10mil contract, though it will be only for a year or two, most likely on a team that needs his experience. My hunch is Philly.
* I am sure there are others - I think Ben Simmons played himself out of being a cornerstone in Philly. Brook Lopez reminded the league he is still a $10mil a year guy who actually does play rim protecting D. He's got his weaknesses, but protecting the rim is not one of them. Been a fun playoffs if you love summer intrigue
