Official 2020-21 NBA Finals - Milwaukee Bucks win the NBA Championship!

Official 2020-21 NBA Season Thread - Will CP3 and JC get 50/40/90 and 50/40/80

76ers may have the two best perimeter defenders in the NBA in Thybulle and Simmons; they have the player that will finish the highest in the MVP voting from the Eastern Conference. They have the easier path to the Eastern Conference game (Atlanta or the Knicks) than the Nets (Milwaukee or Miami). The 76ers have home court. The 76ers have Doc on the bench, while the Nets's coach will be making his NBA playoff debut. Two of the Nets big three are major injury question marks, and the third guy is insane. Not saying Philly is lock to win the East, but I like that they are underdogs to get out of the East as compared to the Nets.

Eastern Conference odds (Draft Kings - payout on a $100 wager):

Nets +120
Bucks +300
76ers +300
Heat +1200
Celts +4000 (beyond stupid that the Celtics who have given up, and have to get through the play-in and then either the Nets or 76ers in round 1 have the same odds as ATL or NYK - shows bettors are stupid and will blindly bet Boston)
Knicks +4000
Hawks +4000
Wiz +15000
Pacers +25000
Hornets +25000

Western Conference:

Lakers +200 (LeBron gets all of the respect; favorite despite being the #7 seed and having to go through the play-in)
Clips +225
Jazz +350
Suns +700
Nugs +1200
Mavs +2500
Blazers +2500
Warriors +6000
Griz +15000
Spurs +30000

Maybe there is some preseason hedging going on? Lakers vs Nets was the overwhelming favorite to be the matchup in the finals going into the season, so not only are there intangible biases that it will be the match up, but actual money at high odds that Sportsbooks need to hedge against on the Lakers (and probably Boston) that was placed before the season, let alone the playoffs, even started. I’m not sure if that’s how it works, but it would make sense to me.

fun reel

Defensively, Thybulle is like Duncan on the wing.

Thybulle vs Harden or Kyrie should be fun this post season. I'd never seen those highlights until I searched for them yesterday, they're absurd.

Levert out for the play-in games due to contact tracing. That sucks for the Pacers.

Random question, are players still held out for contact tracing even after they are vaccinated?

Just had lunch next to Mason Plumlee. He was with a group, and then broke off into a semi private room with one other person and got on the phone with someone. Signing with the Bulls maybe? Major scoop.

Mason Plumlee is 31. Crazy. He had a good season for the Pistons when he actually played.

Revisiting the questions at the start of the thread:

New season. New thread.

The Lakers added more depth in the offseason. Will they cruise to the playoffs?

Will PG pay off for the Clips?

Will CP elevate Booker and the Suns?

Will Harden play for the Rockets? How long will Wall play for the Rockets?

Will Giannis sign an extension with the Bucks? Can they figure it out in the regular season AND the playoffs?

Will the Heat carry over their bubble momentum into the regular season?

Will Doc and the Sixers get it together?

Can Steve Nash figure out the right chemistry for the Nets?

Can JC lead the Hawks to the playoffs?

Will the young Hornets contend for the playoffs?

No.
We'll see.
Definitely.
Nope. Until a week or two ago. 40 games total.
Yes. I guess. Doubtful.
Not really, but they’re looking good for the playoffs.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.

Tony Snell played 1,000 minutes of basketball this season, and shot 50%/50%/100%

57% from deep and 42% inside the arc.

ESPN's 16 experts picks on the play-in games and round 1 series matchups that are currently known:

Wiz v. Celts: 12-4 Wiz (Celts are a 2 point fave)
Hornets v. Pacers: 10-6 Pacers (the picks were likely made before it was known that Levert was out; the line has dropped to pick or Pacers -1

Warriors v. Lakers: 15-1 Lakers (Lakers are a 5 point favorite)
Spurs v. Griz: 13-3 Griz (Griz are a 4 point fave)

Heat v. Bucks: 12-4 Bucks
Hawks v. Knicks: 14-2 Knicks (disagree with the experts; think that experts are expecting Tibs to frustrate the young Hawks)

Blazers v. Nuggets: 8-8
Mavs v. Clips: 15-1 Clips

The Knicks and Hawks are young and lack playoff experience. Randle has never been to the playoffs either. I think Capela and Rose are the major contributors with the most playoff experience.

Sabonis 2 pts and Pacers still crushing Hornets lol
