Official 2020-21 NBA Season Thread - Will CP3 and JC get 50/40/90 and 50/40/80
Maybe there is some preseason hedging going on? Lakers vs Nets was the overwhelming favorite to be the matchup in the finals going into the season, so not only are there intangible biases that it will be the match up, but actual money at high odds that Sportsbooks need to hedge against on the Lakers (and probably Boston) that was placed before the season, let alone the playoffs, even started. I’m not sure if that’s how it works, but it would make sense to me.
76ers may have the two best perimeter defenders in the NBA in Thybulle and Simmons; they have the player that will finish the highest in the MVP voting from the Eastern Conference. They have the easier path to the Eastern Conference game (Atlanta or the Knicks) than the Nets (Milwaukee or Miami). The 76ers have home court. The 76ers have Doc on the bench, while the Nets's coach will be making his NBA playoff debut. Two of the Nets big three are major injury question marks, and the third guy is insane. Not saying Philly is lock to win the East, but I like that they are underdogs to get out of the East as compared to the Nets.
Eastern Conference odds (Draft Kings - payout on a $100 wager):
Nets +120
Bucks +300
76ers +300
Heat +1200
Celts +4000 (beyond stupid that the Celtics who have given up, and have to get through the play-in and then either the Nets or 76ers in round 1 have the same odds as ATL or NYK - shows bettors are stupid and will blindly bet Boston)
Knicks +4000
Hawks +4000
Wiz +15000
Pacers +25000
Hornets +25000
Western Conference:
Lakers +200 (LeBron gets all of the respect; favorite despite being the #7 seed and having to go through the play-in)
Clips +225
Jazz +350
Suns +700
Nugs +1200
Mavs +2500
Blazers +2500
Warriors +6000
Griz +15000
Spurs +30000
