Official 2020-21 NBA Finals - Milwaukee Bucks win the NBA Championship!

Plus Jordan got however many years when the NBA had essentially the college 3 point line. That was so ridiculous.

Shooting 30-35% from 3 back in the day wasn't so bad. Bird was probably the 1st really prolific 3 point shooter in the 1980s, who was also a great scorer all around, and even then, I don't think he shot over 40% from 3 in his career. There weren't many players from back then who were 20+ ppg guys who were also prolific from 3. It's such a different game now.

I expect Scott Foster to ref game 3 so the Bucks will take that, then hopefully the Suns can get game 4 and close it in 5

man I always assumed LeBron would throw CP3 a bone and he'd come to the Lakers for a pity ring but it's so exciting to see him leading the way when a lot of people left him for dead after he went to OKC and especially to PHX.

Phoenix's success is a shame for those people that took the lazy and idiotic approach to claim that CP3 "didn't have what it takes" to win the big game.

In other news, Chauncey Billups hired former OKC and Wiz HC Scott Brooks as Billups' top assistant in Portland.

This stat blows my mind. How in the hell was the dude such a good scorer if the defense didn't have to respect his 3 shot.

Because when he played college ball, they didn't have the 3 point shot. That's why all those guys playing back then had mid-range games and why guys who still have it today are so effective. He had to develop a 3 point shot over time, and it eventually became respectable enough for the time. He was never lethal behind the arc, though if the game was on the line, you probably didn't want him launching one from there.

When Jordan was at the height of his pre-championship powers and averaging 37 and 35 ppg, the man took 66 and 53 three point shots over the course of those entire seasons. Curry throws up that many through 5-6 games. He was lethal slashing to the hoop, in spite of it being the time period where you'd get leveled if you did that.

COVID concerns knock 3 players off the US Select Team who will practice against the US Olympic team:

Hornets forward Miles Bridges and P.J. Washington and Knicks guard Immanuel Quickley are no longer with the U.S. Select Team scrimmaging against Team USA’s Olympic roster in Las Vegas, tweets ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. The three players have been removed from the mix due to the coronavirus protocols.

A person with knowledge of the situation told Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press that one of those three players tested positive for COVID-19, while the other two were deemed close contacts and are being held out for precautionary reasons. According to Stefan Bondy of The New York Daily News (via Twitter), Quickley entered the protocols for contact tracing purposes rather than a positive test, which suggests that one of the Hornets forwards was the player who tested positive.

The last thing the Hornets need is for players to take COVID advice from 2&2.

This is more stupid protocols. Both were vaccinated earlier in the spring and then both had to miss part of the regular season because of Covid protocols after being vaxxed (Bridges' absence being what ultimately derailed the season). Now they are both being shut down a second time for Covid. The whole point of the vaxx is to be able to say who cares if you actually get the virus. If you want to promote people getting the shot, don't keep suspending the guys who got the shot. Otherwise you are acknowledging that it is in fact just a placebo.

What was that saying again? Oh yeah, never argue with an idiot. They’ll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Ugh...every game he calls in the playoffs turns into a shit show. He's always trying to do too much.

Official 2020-21 NBA Finals - Phoenix Suns (CP3) vs. Milwaukee Bucks (Teague)

Plenty of NBA guys on the Nigeria squad.

Their current roster includes: Josh Okogie, Gabe Vincent, Jordan Nwora, Chimezie Metu, Jahlil Okafor, Obi Emegano, Caleb Agada, Stan Okoye, Kz Okpala, Precious Achiuwa, Miye Oni, Ekpe Udoh, Mike Gbinije, Chima Moneke, and Ike Iroegbu.

Bam Adebayo could have been on the Nigeria team because his dad is Nigeria.

with Okafor I'd figure Nigeria to be the favorites

Nigeria up 66-64 going into the 4th. They have a lot of guys hitting threes. Can't find a box score though. The Olympics are a tryout for guys who aren't on rosters yet. Some of these guys will be in Summer League as well.

Nigeria won 90-87. Nigeria shot 20/42 from deep. Only 29 years ago, the Dream Team beat up on a bunch of starstruck guys from Angola nobody had ever heard of. Now a Nigeria team got hot from deep and beat their teammates. USA had the ball down 3 with 13.2 left and didn't even get off a shot before getting fouled with 3.5 left. And that's with Dame and KD on the court.

Nice work by Nigeria coach Mike Brown. Pop didn't sit guys and he coached to win. Embarrassing loss by Team USA, but potentially huge for NBA Africa.

At what point does the basketball community just finally acknowledge that Pop sucks without Duncan? He should be fired from USA Basketball for that loss. Those might be NBA guys on Ph's list, but I'm a pretty big NBA follower and I've only heard of 3 of them. If he just got outcoached by Mike Brown then that is even more reason to fire him.
