Official Champions League 2017/2018 - New & Improved: Arsenal Free (NWT)

Always a tough place to play. Will still win the group in all likelihood.

Liverpool presumably going with it’s standard 4-3-3 with Coutinho joining Can and Wijnaldum in the midfield and a front 3 of Salah, Mane and Firmino. That’s some serious firepower. Back 4 of Gomez, Klavan, Lovren and Moreno.

If Liverpool score the first goal, they may win by 3 or 4. If they give up the first, there’ll be a serious Moscow bus parked in the defensive 3rd.

Mane, Salah, Countinho, Firmino counterattack is absurd. Moscow falling over themselves trying to get back.

Opening yourself up when Liverpool have those 4 on the field together is suicidal but what other option does Moscow have?

Come on you Ruskies, get mad and start dolling out some strains and pulls left and right. We need 3 or 4 short term injuries.

How I rank the teams Liverpool could face in the round of 16 from most want to play to least want to play:

Porto
Basel
Shakhtar
Juve
Madrid
Bayern

Email from a friend who is a City supporter:

Pot 1:
United
PSG
Roma
Barca
Liverpool
City
Bestikas
Spurs

Pot2:
Basel
Bayern
Chelsea
Juventus
Sevilla
Shakhtar
Porto
Real Madrid

City, Liverpool and United all with a 50% chance of getting Bayern, Juventus or Real Madrid.

Chelsea with a 2 in 3 chance of PSG or Barca. Basel, I think, would be City’s preferred draw. Or Porto. Same for Liverpool. United would probably want Porto or Sevilla – avoid the trip to Donetsk.
