Official Wake - Syracuse Thread

Was the game more or less ugly than the stats would indicate?

Again, open for a reason bc we do not have good shooters on this team. But what was the alternative? Medium range game is practically non existent on this team as well and especially when Codi was struggling and committing silly fouls consistently. Low post/interior offense was not something we could have gone to. Devin played great against the big leprechaun on Saturday but this Cuse interior D is way more imposing then that big stiff from ND.

Based on what we have on this team, coupled with our moronic coach, we just didn't stand much of a chance in this one.

Having Jon Severe would have made such a difference on nights like tonight.
 
Shoot 20 3's against a zone defense and make 3 of them.
Out rebounded by 20.

I don't understand what his damn game plans are. We're gonna go out here and shoot as many contested 3's as we can against a zone defense and then we arnt even going to worry about boxing out on either end of the court.

I hate buzz. Everything about it. Syracuse had an off night too with all these fouls, really slowed their momentum.
 
Codi scored 4 points. We went 3 - 20 from 3 with a ton of great looks. Cuse blocked 8 shots. You can blame the coach all you want but our players just did not get it done. They played hard but not particularly well.

What could he have drawn up? Honestly? This game was a mismatch big time for us. In addition to this, we all seem to agree he is a pretty shitty in game coach. Do you guys really believe him using his timeouts would have mattered what so freaking ever?
 
Damn that would have been a nice W. CMM is going to have the best game of his career Saturday.
 
3 for 17 on 3s spells death against a superior zone defense. If we had hit 30% of threes, it would have been a different game. Codi's foul trouble and disappearing didn't help.
Outrebounded by over 20+! --- this is a pattern. Other teams offensive rebounding and second chance pts continue to kill us ('Cuse had 18 Offensive Rebounds...that is either coaching or recruiting (either way it points to Bzzz out)
A couple other guys though - especially Adala Moto-- seem to have stepped up and are showing some improvement. Let's get a new coach to prepare for a good senior year for our decent soph class.
 
With Dino, we would've won this game. Pack-line, box out and slash to the hole. Get fouled, make your FT's. Simple.

We've decided to not recruit the types of players that can hang with elite teams. So blaming the players for not being good enough is pretty short-sighted, don't you think?

We don't have a Jon Severe because we whiffed on our top-15+ SG prospects over two recruiting classes and ended up with the trio of Coron Williams, Miles Overton, and Rondale Watson.

No doubt was a huge issue in this game. We didn't shoot well at all, didn't box out (we all know Jeff [Redacted] teams suck at rebounding), and missed a shit ton of 3s and free throws. The fact that we only lost by 10 is a miracle. That was was aided greatly by Cuse shooting pretty miserably as well.
 
Travis needs to stop trying three-point shots.

I'll let Wrangor weigh-in here, but you call a timeout to stop the bleeding while it's still a game. Momentum kept us in this game. Buzz let the air out of the balloon and then yelled at the players after it was 3-minutes too late.
