An NCAA investigator interviewed North Carolina defensive end Quinton Coples this week about his attendance at a Washington, D.C., post-draft party earlier this month at which former Tar Heels Marvin Austin and Robert Quinn were present, sources said.

The NCAA wants to know how Coples paid for his travel to the party, who paid for his admission and his hotel, and if he accepted any free food or drink.

lol, if nothing else it looks like the NCAA will be keeping a closer eye and annoying the hell out of UNC in the near future.

Whoa, whoa, whoa guys. Let's not get crazy here. What violations? Everything is fine.

Reminds me of a post I saw on IC when the recent news involving Teague and Clark broke.

"Who cares about taking money from an agent? At least our players don't rape people! "

Interesting, that would be an untrue statement.

"North Carolina, ranked No. 13 in the 2010 SI preseason poll, had five players with criminal charges, the investigation found.

Nearly 40 percent of the alleged offenses were serious incidents. Sports Illustrated broke down the highlights.

Players had been charged with 56 violent crimes, including assault and battery (25 cases), domestic violence (6), sex offenses (3), aggravated assault (4) and robbery (4). There were 41 charges for property crimes, such as burglary, theft and larceny; and 105 for drug and alcohol offenses, including DUI and intent to distribute cocaine."

I heard last week they had an hour and a half long meeting where Butch laid into them for this exact reason-more agent parties. I was wondering if it would get out. Good to see it did.

Since when does anyone on IC care about the truth?

Pffff - I'm looking forward to Wake having some players again good enough to have pro agent issues with the NCAA policemen.

From Bruce Feldman's chat on ESPN today:

"Jaquay (NC)

What was your reaction to the Quinton Coples situation?

Curious to see how this one unfolds. The investigation with all of those players was so widespread, it's taken a long time for the NCAA to try and wrangle. This latest twist given all of that from last year is brutal timing for UNC and Butch Davis. Given John Blake's apparent involvement from last year, I don't see how UNC doesn't eventually get hammered by the NCAA and that was before this latest Coples "situation" came out."

what is the ncaa doing? It's a joke they havent been punished already.
