Renting a metal detector?

Agreed. It pisses me off that the cops didn't bother to tell me they chased these guys through my yard and there is a possibility they may have dumped something. The cop that came to pick up the stuff I found said they were juveniles and won't get anything more than a slap on the wrist. Still if I'm finding evidence that they dumped weapons (and who knows what else) you'd think the police would want to see what they can find.
 
Definitely keep them if you find them. Never know when you might need a burner.
