Seems to me the biggest thing coming from this book is that Hillary and Pres Obama basically admitted to him that they opposed the Iraq Surge because of political reasons. That concept is not that shocking (maybe not even surprising) but to openly admit it is crazy.

Really wish he had followed through on this. Someone needs to. Congressional hearings are worse than a joke.
If you actually talk to people in DC and in other countries, it's true. Biden is far from the clown many portray him as.

He came off as the only grown up in DC in Woodward's latest book.
It's very convenient that you and the RW talkingheads conveniently leave out that Gates also said Hillary was an excellent Secretary of State.
What's also not in the book is the Biden was 100% correct in his opposition to the surge. He stated early and often that once we stopped bribing local and tribal leaders and left the country the same chaos would return. Take a look at Fallujsh and Rahmadi today and Biden's reasons for opposing the surge have come true.

Respect and admire Gates, but I think the timing of the book is in poor taste. He's a private citizen and he can do what he wants, but seems tacky and petty to release the book while an administration is still in office. Felt the same way about Scott McClellan, W's Press Secretary, when he trashed W's administration while they were still in office.
Social media puts an premium on immediacy and salaciousness, but it does make it harder to find good people who are willing to go into politics. Double Down, the sequel to Game Change, has a lot of leaks on possible VP's vetting (predominantly Christie). I'd assume there were non-disclosure agreements in place and I can't imagine why anyone would put up with that kind of scrutiny when embarrassing personal stuff's still going to be leaked anyway.

Obama didn't support the surge in Afghanistan?
He ordered it before he opposed it apparently. Or maybe it was the other way around in RJ's world. What is funny about all his blustering about "brainwashed" people...is that if you even question, let alone oppose an obama policy, you are brainwashed. Whereas he who supports them all is not brainwashed.
Self awareness is not a strong suit in that one.
Try to keep up. RJ is reprising his role as Simple Jack.

Lol. His problem is that he says the same thing and then you look at the way he voted and it's the opposite of what he did/said. See the second debate with Paul Ryan. I think he told something like 3-5 whoppers in a single answer. Of course, I never saw that bastion of impartiality known as Politifact call him out on it.
