Manifest Destiny

Just saw that this playing at Aperture here in Winston. Definitely going to see it there so I can bro down some beers while enjoying the absurdity of it all.

That's what DF09 and I did on Friday. A few pbrs + this movie = #winning.
Watched it with my dad. He couldn't stop saying "Spring Braaaaake" and "Got my dark tannin' oil" afterwards :bowrofl:
I GOT SHORTS, I GOT SHORTS IN EVERY COLOR. I GOT CALVIN KLEIN ESCAPE, SMELLIN NICE, GOT NUNCHUCKS!
Manifest and I are going to see this evening. Should I start boozing in class to prepare myself?
So I'm torn. I would like to see this flick, but, I have a daughter in college who just returned from spring break... Having teenage and college-aged daughters can really ruin some things for a dad...
Saw it last night. It was exactly what I thought it would be and came out impressed. Korine really nails his social commentary in his movies and I actually enjoyed the cinematography. What I thought was hilarious was that everyone else in the theater, save maybe three or four people, kept talking about how stupid and how that was not what they were expecting at all when they were leaving. Definitely not a movie for everyone. And if you go in to this movie thinking it is a movie just about some girls going on Spring Break then you are in for a bad night.
I didn't get this sense at all. Plenty of meatheads in my theater that just wanted tits and ass and partying and guns and violence and they got exactly what they wanted and they were like dude did you see them titties yuk yuk. The movie is exploitative, the only difference is the intent of the commentary. It was beautifully shot but I didn't think it was subversive at all or especially edgy unless you are a blue haired Betty. Then again why that person would see this film is beyond me.
