Star Wars thread (Ahsoka)

This explains why the destruction of the 2nd Death Star meant the end of the empire:

I partially agree with this. But just because the emperor died, it doesn't necessarily mean that the Empire is destroyed. There was still a lot of the remnants of the Empire that would need to be dealt with. It think this would have made a stronger story for the sequels. The original Thrawn novels dealt with this to an extent with the remnants of the Empire. I would have like to have seen more of what happened with Luke and Han and Leia. I get that they were trying to create a new main cast, but then they prominently included Luke and Han and Leia anyway, so why not tell the story of how they got to that point. How did the first order rise and the rebellion fall? What lead to Luke becoming disillusioned with the Jedi? Why did Ben turn to the Darkside?

Maybe we need Prequels to the Sequels.

At least show the Death Star hearings in the Galactic Senate.

But for real, the bigger question is why not do the sequels earlier. I know Carrie Fisher had her problems and Harrison Ford was a mega star, but they could have made a sequel instead of prequels in 1999 when the stars were in their 40s and 50s.

All my grandfather’s stories about sinking subs and fending of kamikaze while on a ship during WWII were super boring bc I mean he was right there telling me. He didn’t even die!

see, this guy gets it!

There's still an episode to go which will ultimately determine how it's judged, but e5 shows why you don't rate these mini-series until the fat lady sings. I had been Reva neutral up until now, I didn't find her all that interesting in e1-4 but that's changed.

yeah, I agree. the neckbeards really hammered the show.

i still don't think it's that great but it also ain't bad. I also don't think it really jolts the canon/timeline that much.

Has there been a single alien species in episodes 3, 4 and 5? Did Disney not have a makeup budget for this series?

Haven’t watched yet. So did they take a page from Marvel and make the next to last ep an introspective episode about a main character?

i dunno, but the set for today's episode and the set for the Vader/OW fight make me think all the money went to McGregor and ??????

Also, does Vader have polarized glass in that helmet? b/c otherwise the glare on the Star Destroyer's windshield must drive him nuts

Yes the best visor ever made because let’s not get into a technology debate again because its another thing that makes no fucking sense

Why does the Empire spend so much on Stormtrooper armor that is entirely useless?

Aren't they just reusing Clone trooper armor? Money is going into the specialist trooper unit armor.

Vader is such a bad ass. I think the flashback in this episode really worked well. Foreshadowed both Vader's episode arc and Reva's.

I dont have many gripes about the series, mostly just because I think griping about Star Wars holes from movies that were made over 40 years is going to inevitably have holes. Bigger issue to me is that this series could have been ripe for some amazing character development and world building.

Disney would be smart to make a show about "The Path" and give us episode after episode of different folks saving and hiding Jedi around the galaxy. You could simultaneously follow a few different Jedi, Inquisitors, and shepherds of the path and introduce all sorts of characters and worlds.
