BC beats WF 80-72

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Ryan Anderson scored 24 points to help Boston College beat Wake Forest 80-72 on Saturday.

Olivier Hanlan added 17 points for the Eagles (8-21, 4-12 Atlantic Coast Conference), who won for just the second time in the span of a month. BC had stunned then-No. 1 Syracuse on the road on Feb. 19 but lost its other seven games in February, including the past two at Miami and at home to Pittsburgh.

But BC earned its third road win this year, shaking free of its season-long struggles to hand the Demon Deacons (15-14, 5-11) the kind of home loss that won't help fourth-year coach Jeff [Redacted]'s fading standing with the fan base.

Boston College came into the game as the ACC's worst rebounding team, but dominated the boards -- including 13-2 on the offensive glass -- and knocked down plenty of free throws to stay in control after halftime.

Devin Thomas scored 18 points for the Demon Deacons, who shot 47 percent but couldn't get enough defensive stops nor keep the Eagles off the glass consistently to earn a win.

BC led 30-24 at halftime before Wake Forest made a push to tie the game at 35 on the way to a 42-40 lead on two free throws from Tyler Cavanaugh with 13:51 left. But Patrick Heckmann answered with a 3-pointer, Wake Forest freshman Miles Overton airballed his own then Lonnie Jackson followed with one in transition that put BC back up 46-42 with 13:08 left.

The Eagles didn't trail again, scoring on 14 of 16 possessions from the 35-all tie and hitting 27 of 34 free throws after halftime to stay in control.
Wake Forest appeared ready for a breakthrough season under [Redacted] after beating in-state rivals North Carolina and North Carolina State in January. But a home loss to Syracuse started a run of seven straight losses that drained every bit of the early season momentum, including last weekend's 105-72 loss to the Tar Heels.

The Demon Deacons regrouped to beat Clemson 62-57 here Tuesday night, but followed that with Saturday's clunker.
By the time the final seconds were ticking off, several students were yelling "Buzz out!" -- a slogan [Redacted]'s critics have used in pushing for the coach to be fired.

To quote BabyDeac, once again.

"Tick, tock, tick, tock."

Bye-bye Jeffrey.

I hope there are a lot of students there for Duke and they are just brutal on him.

Can anyone else who was at the game verify the chanting?

I was in the student section, there were a decent number shouting it during those last few free throws. No possible way Bzz didn't hear it

Did a funny looking guy in a black BuzzIn t-shirt, threaten to fight any of them, for daring to speak out against our beloved leader?

On tv there appeared to be only about 6 students there.

True or false?

The BOT and their empty suit president should have their eyelids pinned open and then they should be forced to watch every excruciating minute of this video. Hopefully watching their incompetent "department head" violate the honor code repeatedly while spouting this pack of lies would generate remorse and spur the BOT to take the actions necessary to restore integrity as a core value of the leadership at MSD. Job 1 would be replacing Hatch with someone who actually has integrity.

After listening to that interview, if our team could somehow end up with a winning season, I think Wellman would use the improved record and the Green and McClinton injury factor as 2 justifications to give [Redacted] another year. But with a probable 4-5 ACC home record, and an overall probable losing record (either 15-17 or 16-17 with a 1st round ACCT win), my prediction is Wellman will finally recognize his mistake and let [Redacted] go. I agree with those who think it will be announced as a mutual parting and Wellman with thank [Redacted] for establishing a foundation and culture for future success.
