The 2020-21 College Football Thread: Alabama Unleashes Bold Familiar Flavor on CFB !!

She kicked like a man who only started kicking off a few days before. Some coaches do that with their actual kickers.

Bullshit. There are literally hundreds of male students at Vandy who played soccer in high school and without any practice could suit up and look more like a real kicker than that.

This might not be a popular take but oh well... From a diversity and inclusion perspective, I actually hate it when they try to force the “women can compete right alongside the men” image. Because the image you’re immediately left with is, no they can’t. And there are probably a ton of male SEC football fans who will see what happened today and subconsciously extend that image to lots of other things where we actually should be concerned about inclusion - CEOs of companies, science and engineering, etc.

Well Vandy's men couldn't compete with the men today.

Did you actually see the kick? She didn't try to kick a traditional kick and shank it. She tried to kick a chip shot and she kicked it. It's a kick we've seen Grobe and Clawson do at times.

It's fucking stupid to think a guy who kicked in high school would be better at kicking on short notice simply because they're men compared to a woman who played four years of college soccer and won a conference championship a few days ago. Get out of here with that caveman bullshit.

If it’s caveman bullshit to acknowledge the physical differences between male and female athletes, we’ll have to agree to disagree.

If kicking was just about physical differences, one of the men already on the team could have done it.

You made an argument about skills and I said it was stupid to assume some rando dude would be a better kicker than a college soccer player.

It was a shitty kick even for a squib kick. Looked like me kicking a waterlogged nerf ball in 8th grade. Kicked it to the 35. Would've rolled out of bounds at about the 30 and been spotted at the 35 (or is it the 40 in CFB?) if they just let it roll.

I'm sure she can kick it better, but really, WGAF? You want to make history, then go play a position of consequence, or at least kick a FG over 40 yards, or get bulldozed making a tackle on one of your kicks where the coverage fails. You want to be a token and a footnote, then be trotted out there for an 0-8 team and kick that.

LOL. She won a conference championship less than a week ago. They asked her to fill in in an emergency. She agreed to help out and she did. Stop being fragile. A woman doing a kickoff in the SEC isn’t going to cost you your penis.

Yes, but the whole point is they wouldn't have asked her if they were 8-0 or in a game of relative importance and they needed a kicker to fill in. Of course, a team like that would probably have more depth in the position, or at the very least more demand, but whatever. No, it's not going to cost my penis, but let's stop acting like it was a big deal. It wasn't.

Who would they have asked? They don’t have a men’s soccer team. Students are off-campus until next semester.

On the surface, it’s a nice story, but stripped to its essence, it was a PR stunt for a winless program. Sorry, but kicking a dribbler for 30 yards in not “playing football”. Cmon, let’s be honest, what happened today is in the same category as when a basketball team lets the team manager play for a possession in a blowout game at the end of the season.

Granted, she could have played QB for Penn State the past month and not embarrassed herself anymore than the scholarship athlete recruited to play that position.

There is no doubt that a former high school kicker at a 4A or 5A school would be better than her.

Probably but students are home. They couldn’t just host tryouts.

The Duke/GT game is a clown show.

The GT punt returner literally tossed the ball over his head for a Duke TD. A different GT kickoff returner caught a KO that would’ve gone out of bounds, but grabbed it and then stepped out of bounds inside his five yard line, leading to a Duke safety. Then on the subsequent free kick, the Duke kick returner let the ball dribble by him, and then tried to call for a fair catch while the ball rolled to the Duke one (can’t fair catch a ball on the ground). Two plays later, Duke Chase Brice fumbled in his own end zone, which GT recovered for a TD. All in the first half

Also starting at OT.

Sounds entertaining. It’s blacked out for me on ESPN app. ACC Network is showing State vs Cuse replay.
