Reading this thread is painful. Syracuse 2 big guards were bad match-ups for us and Doral was a bad matchup for them. Aside from our relatively poor shooting during the dry spell in the first half, missed open shots in the second half, and FT line, it was a pretty good outing by us. Losing Keyshawn hurt the rotation against the zone offensively, but the attacking plan was very good overall. Thompson and Crawford did pretty well attacking the FT line against the zone. I personally think the criticism of Brandon is a little harsh except for his missed layup. In the second half Syracuse tightened up their zone and Brandon's drives were a big part of the zone busting. He just needs more confidence taking his 3's. Sarr and Chaundee both can contribute, but both lack consistency and reliability as yet. Experience and confidence will help them greatly. We have a very unbalanced roster this season that is driven by the effectiveness of our guard play each game and the ability of Doral to stay on the floor. Defensively we lack the quickness and/or length at all positions to play an effective man to man so the zone seems to be a fair substitute. Overall this game has many more positives than negatives. Win from behind, close out the game, bust a very tough zone, overcome Keyshawn's injury, gain experience and confidence for our freshmen and sophomores.
