Only 8.5 you’re just trying to be cool by not giving it a 10
I saw that too and was wondering why the discrepancy as some people are saying it's amazing and others are saying that it ruined star wars and is the worst star wars movie.Last night around 9 the Audience Score on RT was 99%....then at 4am when I got home from the 12:25am showing it was 71%....now it's 57%.
Seems like all the twitter/etc commentary is polarized to "best since Empire" or "prequel bad" with a good sprinkling of "3-4 great scenes and then a prequel piece of crap".

Empire is a 10
I the TLJ is higher than 8.5, but you're right about Empire. It's the best of the series and one of the all-time movie greats.
More like the last yeti. Why do people like Kylo so much, I find it hard to take him seriously.
Yeah he’s just a pouty pissed off millenial, IMO. But he’s going up against a girl with no character development and an ex storm trooper that literally serves no purpose in the series so not much competition
Finn's purpose is clear. He's the only defector in the series. He gives us completely new information about stormtroopers and what is was like to be raised by the Empire. We knew almost nothing going into TFA. He also helps move the plot with crucial information about the Empire and Starkiller base that leads to its destruction. Feel free to argue with the casting or whether you like the character or not, but he clearly serves a purpose.
He is there as a cop out to know everything there is to know about the First Order. Somehow he was a janitor and a Stormtrooper? They have tons of stormtroopers, why the double dipping of duties?

He got promoted. It was obvious that the opening scene of TFA was his first action as a stormtrooper.
