The New Socialists

You can’t not do the Trump stuff. Baldwin is grating, and his impression was never meant to have this kind of shelf life, but the big issue is the truth might more absurd that sketch comedy can handle.

Update is about as good right now as it has been since I starting watching with Norm.

Jost and Che are great together and I feel like the last year or two they’ve been given almost total license to do whatever they want because no matter how outlandish or maybe towing the line the jokes may be, it’s literally the material they are given on a weekly basis that is that insane.

:squint:

SNL has been pretty damn good lately.
SNL has been miserable for the last 3-4 years, and it was trending down before that. Their political stuff is not only WAY over done, but also insanely hack and surface level. The SNL talent has always been overly white and ivy league-elitist, but this current iteration are goddamned baby-boomer pod people, 30 somethings with the perspective of nantucket retirees. It's like 50 minutes of hearing your mom use "rachet" as an adjective.

I think this is about the most diverse cast they’ve ever had.

I dont have a problem with the cast, i've seen many of them do good stand-up. The writing is bad. Somehow Kate McKinnon is both overused and wasted.

Seriously. The last 3-4 years are the first time having two black women, first time having four black people total (not counting Che), first out lesbian, first Latina, first plus size woman I can remember, first black Weekend Update host, and I’m guessing the first 50+ year old cast member.

To be clear, Leslie Jones is a gem and as a society we don't deserve her. SNLs greatest weakness has always been its lack of diversity, the current iteration is just very bad. Its not fun.

We will have to agree to disagree on this point. I have thoroughly enjoyed this cast the last couple of seasons.

Fat people are considered diversity now?

That’s one policy goal. We are talking about the big picture.

In my research I found that the real weaknesses in the deal are overshadowed by doctored documents conservatives made up and proliferated, then attacked.

Critiques of the Green New Deal as unrealistic, unachievable, impractical, and the like are all over the net. Do some research.

The critiques of the green new deal are fantasy! (Two can play at this game.)

In my research I found that the real weaknesses in the deal are overshadowed by doctored documents conservatives made up and proliferated, then attacked.

Please explain.

BREAKING NEWS: "Radical change is impractical!" says people who expend exorbitant amount of effort and money preventing radical change.

Apparently conservatives on twitter took the new deal and photoshopped outlandish positions which then became ubiquitous on right wing sites and across twitter. Tucker Carlson actually asked an AOC aide on his show about these fake positions.

you don't have to spend that much money to prevent radical change. most of the time it falls apart with simple factual examination
