The Official 2015 MLB Season Thread - Congrats, Royals

Pirates have a better out-of-division winning percentage than the 116-win 2001 Mariners did

They're an incredible 19-4 vs. the NL West. And they have 6 left vs. Colorado so I think they haven't even played them yet.

21-29 against the NL Central though, while the Cards are 32-18

The Nats are now 5.5 games back and at 15% chance of making the playoffs. Has anyone checked on SND?

The Phillies scored seven in three innings to chase deGrom (and scuff up his pretty ERA), and still managed to lose by nine runs. That's impressive.

Nats are in deep trouble. They will make a run (for the first time all year the Nats will play their projected starting lineup tonight; their schedule is very easy down the stretch; and they play a ton of home games the rest of the way), but the Mets schedule is also soft, and the lead is big enough that if the Mets merely play 21-17 against a schedule filled with games against the Marlins, Phillies and Braves, the Nats would have to go 27-12 just to tie. Really unlikely.

The season turned when the Nats got swept in NY at the beginning of August, and then in the two weeks following that series the Nats had 6 games against the Rockies and the Mets had 7. The Nats went 3-3 (including Johann Flande beating Max Scherzer twice), and the Mets went 7-0. The Mets went 10-0 in those games, the Nats 3-6. 6.5 game swing.

The Nats do play the Mets 6 times before the season ends. Nats will need to win 4 or possibly 5 of those games to have any chance.

Tigs took a no-no, 5-0 lead 5.2 innings last night against the Reds....only to lose 12-5.

If things hold up as is right now, this will be the 2nd time in 4 years since the league has adopted the 2 WC that the NL central will have both WC teams. Seems like an unlikely thing to happen, but maybe not.

Would be interesting to look at the standings from '95 to '11 to see where the second WC team would've come from, had it been in place.

ESPN is pretty MONTE, Simmons can't call Goodell a liar, while Schilling can compare Muslims to Nazis.

Don Orsillo supposedly parting ways with nesn after the season. Oh man Jery Remy is also only gonna do 40 home games next year. Ugghhh. Wake grad Evan Lepler needs to get on this.

Gonna miss moments like this

Some retired pitchers are better at social media than others.

The life of a Rays fan. Other fans are focused on postseason runs while they are forced to look at AAA numbers for the next great cost-controlled guy. Rough.

Sorry, phan! O's haven't won since this post. #baseballkarmaisreal #needtogrowrallybeard #seasonisover
