the official new supreme court thread - Very political

Looking forward to the Senate dems deep dive into ACB's high school and college yearbooks

I have a sneaking suspicion more GOP senators have tested positive they're just no longer reporting because they want to go through with the hearings. Harrison keeps pressing Graham ahead of their debate if he has tested negative and Graham keeps wavering.

Can't let a pesky little thing like possibly infecting others with a deadly virus get in the way of jamming through a hard right Supreme Court justice while people are voting in the presidential election!

Yep. And if they’re coughing all through the hearings, we will have plenty of reason to suspect it.

thats a good point. Imagine that shit show with a bunch of gop senators grand standing and trying to yell at dems while coughing the entire time.

But that's different, you see. In those instances the court expansion was being done by Republicans, which is good, and in the other case court expansion might be done by evil LibDems, which is bad. On a serious note, I do hope that if Democrats win a Senate majority and seriously discuss expanding the Court, that they use material like this to respond to the inevitable furious GOP backlash. Imagine Buttigieg on Fox responding to questions about this issue by bringing up all of the facts above. That would be entertaining to watch. Tucker's head would explode.

They just claim states rights and move on.

No doubt. Jonathan Karl was repeatedly insulted by Eric Trump today and was clearly frustrated at his antics, but later during the roundtable he went after Rahm Emmanuel for why Biden and Harris and other leading Democrats won't answer a "simple question" of whether they would pack the Court if elected, and seemed exasperated by Rahm's refusal to say that they would pack the Court.

This is clearly a GOP attempt to try and change the campaign narrative from the pandemic and Trump's implosion over the past two or three weeks. If any leading Democrat says they will expand the court, then the the GOP and news media (including the so-called liberal msm) will immediately make that front-page news and will talk about nothing else 24/7 - the LibDems are going to destroy our sacred constitution by doing something that the constitution allows! Frankly, Biden and Harris would be dumb at this point to give a definitive answer, no matter how many times they're asked. Why give the Trump campaign a lifeline when it's busy drowning itself?

Lots of good responses to it.

I like the one that says he makes her sound like a superlegislator not an umpire.

she's the head of the household? pretty sure she believes the man is the head of the household

The simple answer would be to look how Grassley, Graham, Cornyn, Lee, and Cruz had no problem with packing the DC circuit court. Then quickly pivot back to covid.

What I'd like them to say is elections have consequences, but now is not the time for that.
