the official new supreme court thread - Very political

So he’s saying his party does not represent the will of the people but he has entrenched power to defeat the will of the people.

And yet we have conservatives saying that what McConnell and the GOP has done isn't at all different from the way things were done before, is perfectly legitimate, and doesn't amount to partisan court packing. And then Mitch can't help but brag and prove them dead wrong. Of course they've packed the Court, they just found a different way to do it, and as Mitch implies this was nothing more than an extremely partisan power grab. The Republicans now own the Supreme Court, and they're proud about it. We'll see if the Democrats "can't do much about this" if they win a Senate majority. If Mitch will only continue to say the quiet part out loud like this, he'll actually be a big help to Democrats doing something about the Court.

Trump is only 4 months. It used to be a year, but science changed it for Trump.

You too can be a supreme court justice if you've never tried a case. Academic work only, writing opinion pieces telling the truth of your beliefs, refusing to answer any questions put forth by senators? No problem. Just promise behind closed doors to tow the party line.
 
Aren't we so glad Moscow Mitch denied a Black man from appointing a Black woman and held open that circuit court seat so this would all be possible?

And if you're young so you'll stay on the Court for at least a generation and enforce partisan right-wing policies for decades, and prevent Democrats from ever appointing any justices of their own. Just like the Framers intended! And I just love Mitch bragging about how successful his court-packing efforts have been, and how the Democrats can't do a thing to stop it. But god forbid the Democrats respond in kind - that would be crossing a line! <rolls eyes>
