The Three Amigos save the dreamers

This has not proven to be very historically true. The only subset of Trumps base amenable to Democrats are the populist leaning independents who want outsider candidates to upset the status quo. Joe Biden is not that.

I think Trump's base has a rasonable amount of people who have voted Democrat and would again for the right person. Blue collar workers who do not want subsidy from the government. These guys were a major part of the democratic base historically.

If Dem party goes with the sanders wing who would like a leftward lurch, these people will likely start identifying as reliable Republicans by default. It will be a calculated risk that could have long term results well past the Trump era.

95% of Trump's base are Republicans. They aren't conservatives. The Republican platform shifted away from conservative principles to "anything that makes liberals mad" around a decade ago. They have no policy platforms outside of that.

Democrats haven't learned a damned thing since last November's election. Now they are getting ready to take another giant step toward becoming the National Socialist Democratic Party. More free stuff from the government for everyone.

It is rapidly becoming the party of Black Radicals, Freaks & Freeloaders. Somehow, against all odds, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan & Wisconsin have already moved from Blue to Purple. Maybe Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, BLM & LGBT can move them on from Purple to Red.

Tell me more about blue collar workers and how they don't want healthcare coverage or tuition for their children. I'm very interested in this theory.

Your political idols (McGovern, Dean, whoever) would punch you in the dick right now if they could

lol blue-collar workers don't want public schools and health coverage? delusional.

they voted for the guy who promised everyone was going to be covered and it was going "to be beautiful" and we were going to have "the greatest schools in the world"

they believed that huckster, and now you dorks and your token convert BKF are saying they don't want the government to provide services? lol

Maybe they don't trust the government to provide for them. Just a thought.

One of the most baffling parts of the modern conservative movement is the anti-intellectualism bent

The conservative lie is that working class white people are inherently economically conservative. They aren't. More accurately they are nationalistic and socially conservative. What Republicans have been doing for the last 40 years is re-framing conservative economics as a social issue, so that low taxes = liberty, regulation = fascism, and government assistance is for lazy jobless black people and illegal mexican immigrants.

Very well said.

When conservatives hear or say "working class" what they picture are white factory workers or tradesmen, while in current reality, the working class is mostly comprised of low paying service industry jobs, and a larger percentage of minorities are "working class" than white.

It is really important to Dems to think that that would matter to most conservatives. Like weirdly, bizarrely important. It's 2017. Nobody who matters gives a shit.

It's oddly refreshing when the truth finally comes out.
