You are a young time travelin’ Nicolas Cage (Civ, Role Cop w/ BPV)
You’re the Best Goddamn Actor in the Universe. Or, well, you’re going to be. It’s summer 1980, and you’re a 16-year old kid who is still 2 years away from getting his big break. You’re also really smart, because you’re Nic Cage, and you invented a time machine. You’ve spent all summer traveling throughout your career and hoarding various scripts from your future roles. Unfortunately, your time machine had some, er, flaws, and in a few instances, you accidentally traveled to some much darker timelines, where you are not the Best Goddamn Actor in the Universe, but instead actually a fucking joke that nobody respects.
You eventually made your way back home to summer 1980 prime, with a duffel bag of scripts and film in tow. The scripts are all mixed up, and you can’t tell which scripts came from which timeline without reading them in some detail. Now, it’s your job to pick some roles, and figure out which ones are from the timeline in which you continue to be the Best Goddamn Actor in the Universe, and which ones are from the timeline in which you become utter shite.
Each night, you may select one player to visit (script to read / film role to watch / I am stretching this premise hilariously thin, just go with it). You will be told the name of the film, as well as a brief synopsis of it. You should be careful here; even some of the very real roles in this universe (where you are the Best Goddamn Actor) could be missteps trying to sink you.
Even still, as Young Time-Traveling Nic Cage is a Very Serious Actor, you will then playtest the script a bit, spending the entire following day in character for the role. You will be required to use at least two quotes from the script while posting.
Lastly, the self-confidence that comes with time travel is empowering. You now know that, as I’ve said already, at the end of the day, you can probably afford a few clunkers. After all, you have a duffel bag full of mostly proven hits. If a Worst Timeline script gets to you, you’ll survive. How this manifests in this game is: You have a BPV.
