Totally Unofficial 2018/19 Premier League Thread (NWT)

Also, suddenly the EV are in contention for a Euro spot. Not really sure if that would even be good for the club next year

Everyone needs to stop saying Liverpool is "back to top of the table" when they're only at the top because they've played one more game than City. Until City drops points, Liverpool isn't at the top of the table.

They've said the same thing for other teams in the past. Not sure why it's a big deal.

Hater. Soak it in!

Weird hill to die on. Liverpool are currently in first place/top of the table. That’s a fact. It is often followed by “two points ahead of City who have a game in hand” which is another fact. Gotta go Rafa on you here.

They have currently earned more points than any other side. That means that they are top of the table right now. That's how math works.

Agree with dorkvision7 and others here. timthedeac is more like timthedouche.

It's just a downside of points-based rankings vs winning percentage-based rankings. Happens all the time in MLB and NBA standings where a team is ranked higher due to higher winning percentage despite having fewer wins because they've played fewer games. Right now, Utah is 5th in the west with 46-30 record and .605 winning percentage and Clippers are 6th in the west with 47-31 record and .603 winning percentage.

It's not that big a deal so y'all can bash if you want. But the team that controls its own destiny is at the top.

1) you cannot draw in basketball
2) wins aren't worth 3 points in basketball
3) win % is diluted in football since you can draw

Would you want the standings to be done by % of possible points won at any stage? I think that's the closest one could do to your NBA example.

Like Liverpool have played for 96 points (32 matches) and have earned 79 points. So they've earned 82.3% of their possible points.
Man City have played for 93 points (31 matches) and have earned 77 points. So they've earned 82.8% of their possible points.

Is that what you are arguing for?

Think y'all being a little hard in ganging up on tim.

How many points are Citeh really gon drop before end of season? Not saying it will happen but I wouldn't be shocked if they ran the table

Your keyboard strokes to God's ears

That speaks to something -- their hardest game left is @ United yet that could be a weird atmosphere, a la Man City @ Everton late in 2014 when an Everton result would have been a great assist to Liverpool's chances.

Seems most if not all United fans would rather deal with another City title than Pool's long drought ending

Lloris may have just gifted Liverpool the title

This is silly talk, just like Rafa 'winning pool the title' back in January. There is still a lot of football to be played. City wins out, Lloris gave us nothing.
