is there any point where Smith can appeal shit like this and be like come on, we need to have a goddamn trial.

I know Trump's tactic is to delay everything, but before he hadn't done it with actual judge help.
 
I can’t believe she is still on the case, I am sure there is enough info to get her removed.

I mean this seems very open and shut.

^This. People have been waiting for Trump to do actual jail time for his crimes since he was first elected in 2016. And so far, nothing. He's been fined, but I'll believe he's going to prison when I actually see him dressed in orange being escorted into a prison somewhere. Until then it all seems like a bunch of wishful thinking that will never happen.
 


Ain't nothing happening in Georgia for quite a while. While some pre-trial proceedings can still continue (at least for now), there's basically zero chance this case gets tried this year.

ETA: I didn't think the COA was going to take up the case, but there's clearly open questions of law, so I don't think it's inappropriate.

One more edit: I’m very curious to see whether this has any impact on Fani’s reelection - she’s got a Democratic primary challenger and early voting for the May 21 primary is about halfway through. Couldn’t have been much better timing for her opponent.

For others that are wondering (because I was) under NY law, each count of falsifying business records is a felony punishable by up to 4 years in prison. He's been charged with 34 counts.
 
That’s cute you think that’s even remotely possible, 1 month probation and a 1,000 dollar fine tops!
