Trump Pays Porn Stars Hush Money

This.

I think the 65% of the country (and especially his victims of abuse) are sick and tired of watching him lie, flail and obfuscate the truth on a daily basis. I could care less but if tapes or photos are released, Trump only has himself to blame for 1.) engaging in an extra marital affair with a porn star and 2.) calling everything fake news to the point where hard evidence is necessary.

Meh, I don't think the affairs will bring him down. His supporters, including Franklin Graham and his ilk, will mostly turn a blind eye. I care much more about what Mueller finds or doesn't find. On the 1 hand, they could just find some clumsy attempts at collusion and obstruction of justice. On the other, they could find more major collusion and serious money laundering. And let's say that Mueller does prove a case of serious collusion and money laundering. I still don't think Trump will be impeached. Most Pub pols don't like him but are still too scared to do anything about it because 80+% of Pubs and 40% of America still love him. And to me, it's much sadder for our country that the president stands more of a chance to be taken down by extra marital affairs than by colluding with a foreign enemy and money laundering.

If a pub does it, everybody is a sinner and should be forgiven. If a dem does it, hell doesn't have enough fury.

Don’t care about taking him down. Love watching him flounder and not be able to do shit about her. Can’t fire her, the NDA is basically worthless, she is not a political rival or member of the media. I feel bad for Baron, and a little bad for Melania but I mean she is a starfucker and it goes with the territory. Choices, man. Choices

Yeah I don't think this will bring him down either unless someone can prove a serious violation of campaign finance law. Which is certainly possible since there is very little chance Cohen's payment was legitimate.

Could not agree more with your last statement.

Evangelical Christianity 101. If they're not one of ours and they are caught sinning (especially any sexual stuff), they're going straight to hell and are evil personified. But if they're a member of the tribe, there is no excuse too ridiculous or absurd that we will not use to justify their behavior and forgive them. Pure tribalism at its finest.

Even if they turned, they would want someone like Trump.

I still think paying for an abortion could turn the evangelicals.

Then again they supported a Senate candidate who was credibly accused of molesting several underage girls so what the hell do I know.

Not a chance in hell. He would be forgiven from past transgressions like the redeemed born again Christian they’ve told themselves he is.

Overall I think that Anderson Cooper did a nice job with that interview. One of the first questions where he goes "I am not 100% sure why your doing this" tho..... Everyone knows why she is doing this.

I think it confirms that trump is an asshole, most def bangs porn stars, and possibly had someone go threaten her (which cannot be proven so it is what it is). The only angle I can see of this actually hurting trump is in the payment, is there a legitimate way they can tie it to campaign finances?

No. Abortion is just a wedge issue about controlling women. Conservatives have problems with women who have abortions and doctors who perform them, not men who pay for them.

Do you think the tribalism is uniquely one sided? I certainly don't. It is abundantly obvious pubs are engaging in team politics, but when people call them out on it and don't recognize it happening in there own party it loses all credibility.

Oh it can definitely be tied to campaign finance. The former FEC chairman in the interview even said it's an illegal in-kind campaign contribution...same type John Edwards was charged with. He even went as far as saying this case is actually stronger than the Edwards case because Cohen made the payment 10 days before the election while Edwards made his payment a year before the election (Edwards could claim it was unrelated to the campaign).

However unless Congress actually wants to impeach Trump (which they won't...at least not today), Trump and Cohen will probably get fined at the most.
