Muntz should have better at bats now that he is not catching everyday. Gutsy effort by Lowder. Survived the first 2 innings and gave us a much needed win. Leave it to a freshman to give the gutsiest pitching performance of the season. Cusick and Fleming were meh this weekend. Liberty is very good and traveling on a bus to Lynchburg and then playing a game isn’t easy.

I’m as critical of Walter as anyone but this was a good win and not a disastrous weekend. Our lack of team speed is troubling, and we seem to be a 90 feet at a time team. That requires stringing lots of good at bats together and we are still struggling with that. 3-1 would be a very good result this week.

Absolutely. They can hit bombs but if you could rely simply on the long ball we wouldn’t be 10-11, 5-9 in an admittedly very strong league. We rarely go first to third, or score from second on singles.

It is pretty incredible that 80deacon's days seem to be ruined when Wake wins. Kinda funny from an objective view.

Haha agreed! If wake gets in the tournament they’re dangerous admittedly. However, as always happens, wake will find a way to lose with Walter coaching. It’s inevitable. Therefore unless they ran the table the rest of the way it’s gonna be another .500 or worse ACC year for him (12/13 years which is a joke to keep your job). Until wake can recruit on par with the Vanderbilts of the world or even consistently upper end of the ACC they are gonna be stuck in mediocrity. What makes you think Walter is going to change his ways moving forward?

Thus meaning similar schools with high tuition like Vanderbilt, Stanford, Georgia Tech,UNC, Duke, etc. Wake is the third choice of the best players in their own state. They rarely ever factor in with the elite HS players tho they have been in the last couple years with the catcher from FL and LHP in 21 class who was an Aflac all American. Lost a first rounder to rays few years back tho he was a bust.

Louisville is a good comparison! Coach has been their 15 years, similar to Walter, and for some time now has been recruiting elite guys every year. Look at the kids they lose to the draft and it’s an MLB top prospect team.

Will the transfer portal apply to baseball as well? I worry about Wilken because a bunch of Florida schools missed out on him. He is having a sensational year and is a huge piece to build around but the portal is so tempting to kids, especially not having to sit out. Go Deacs!!

3 schools have landed more than 5 top 100 players (Florida, Vandy, LSU). Here, you are suggesting that recruiting at a level lower than those 3 schools is a failure.

Wake has 2 top 100 recruits. Only ten schools have 3 or more top 100 recruits. So to summarize, your statements on Wake losing baseball games in recent seasons have validity, but your ideas of the recruiting levels that are feasible at Wake Forest don’t.
