Wake Forest Football Recruiting

At this point in time i'd be shocked if Greene doesn't end up at WF. Lot of stuff pointing that way. UNC/Wake battle and I'd put Wake as the favorite currently.

Why. Where is that coming from?

Think this tells me that we might have a kicking problem.

Maybe Maggio kicks and the newbies punt. Thought Sciba was lackluster this spring.

Brilliant move by CLAW. Remember when Swank got hurt and his back up couldn't punt it over 35 yards. Now it's something we don't have to worry about. Now we have filled out our scholly total. Tyler Goodson will announce on July 3rd.

Hoping for Greene and Goodson too! My guess on Greene is he stays home and goes to Wake or leaves the state.

Probably not too many, but I think there's a real chance with Clark.

Huh. Here's a recent quote from a 247 article on Clark:

The commitment is expected to occur on July 4, but there is a possibility that it gets pushed back. He believes he’ll know what he wants to do in the next two weeks, but left the door open just in case.
“It’ll be between all three,” said Clark of Notre Dame. Clemson and North Carolina. “Notre Dame is definitely in a good spot. So, we’ll see how this visit to Carolina goes.”

Unless that quote is totally out of context, I'd say we're well done.

Not sure about this but I have a question for you tau. What is Doreen doing to get all these stud DL this year? I know you had all your guys drafted but he has cleaned up in NC for DLinemen and there has to be more to it than that. Is it they just want to stay home and unc plays no defense and Wake and Duke are tougher academically (not a slight, just a fact)

Hadn't seen that quote.
Agree it's not going to happen.
Hate that he's leaving us to go to teams on my 'most hated' list

It’s his own funeral IMO. Clark would have been excellent for our team and would have had the chance to contribute immediately or at least compete for PT extremely early. Clemson and ND would be terrible choices as far as his chances for ever seeing the football field. Both those teams have brought in high 4 star (ND) and 5 star qbs (Clemson) the last several years. They will continue to bring in blue chips next year if those don’t work out. He would have the best chance to play early at UNC possibly. I predict we won’t see him take a meaningful step for at least 4 years, maybe not at all if he ends up at ND or Clemson.

Lot of stuff coming to a “perfect storm” recruiting wise for NCSU this season. Jackson is a local kid who has always liked the Pack, Clark is BJ Hills cousin (DT who just got drafted) and Josh Harris is a state fan and from Roxboro (kids from here fit much better at NCSU than Duke or Wake). Should end up landing Harris, Zonovan Knight, and a couple of safety studs to top the class off and have it bee the best class NCSU has had in the past 20 or so years (from a rankings stand point). Now on top would be flipping Sam Howell since FSU has pissed him off by continuing to recruit other QBs after telling him they wouldn’t. So it’s been a lot of things, including how hard DD and staff have been selling kids to stay in state. Results last season and NFL draft results speak for themselves. Think it’s those things as well as being hands down the best football game day environment in the state of NCSU more than UNC floundering and Wake/Duke being more academically inclined.

Other way around I think DOD.

Clawson may have been uncomfortable going with a true frosh PK and really wary of having Maggio do both. My only question is has the Army officer done any extensive practice kicking since getting his commission 5 years ago from West Point ? Possible he did an audition for Clawson I guess.

Army does require their people to stay in shape. FITNESS tests regularly. He being brought in as Kickoff specialist. Accuracy not as important as a strong leg. I'm sure the staff did their due diligence on his current kicking ability.

When ECU is good they have just as good of a game day atmosphere. Also, total State move to dismiss Wake's academics as the reason you guys are pulling NC recruits a year after we beat you with one of the best team State has fielded in the past 20 years. OK....

ECU doesn't have as good as an atmosphere as State but that's whatever, it's not worth arguing over. Also, where did I dismiss Wake's academics? I just said that I don't think NCSU landing good recruits this season is due to Duke/Wake's academics, that there were other factors that played a much bigger deal. NCSU and Wake have run in the same circle this season for several recruits (based on offer sheets at least), and sometimes the kid fits better at Wake than State and vice versa. Wake would love to have kids like Drake Thomas or Zovon Lindsay but for whatever reason the pitch/school combo was a better fit at State (along with other factors). Same with Donovan Greene. State would love to bring him on board but just has gotten zero traction and it's going nowhere and Wake appears to be in the drivers seat.

Don't take everything as a slight and get you panties in a wad over nothing.

Does anyone have any reason to believe that Donavon Graham will come to Wake? Thought he was leaning ND... Would hate to see him go to UNC as well
