Wake Forest Football Recruiting

Come on Oracle, you forget how recruiting works? Doesn't start til someone actually commits.

You are right..I posted it to show that interest extends beyond his current list of offers..

Moves after his So. year from Roanoke Catholic to Burlington Williams. His number on 247 and Hudl are vastly different with Hudl being 6'2 236 and a 4.46 40 (4.1 in shuttle) and 247 being 6' 223 and a 4.6 40 so take your pick. His film is very impressive from Roanoke Catholic though https://wwwr.hudl.com/profile/9691676/Shane-Whitter

His HUDL highlights are pretty funny. Every third highlight is shot from such a distance, I'd equate it with reading 2pt font on a train on your phone.

3 guys from Georgia to keep and eye on for Wake:

Ath/WR : Sam Brown (6’3-190) explosive leaper who can get up and snag it..one of top 15 in South Georgia

DE : Akelo Stone (6’3 - 245) top 50 US SDE noted for tenacity and motor and overall athleticism

OLB : Taurus Simmons (6’3 - 200) cat quick young guy who has turned in a 4.5 40.

On ILB/OLB Whitter - 6’2-236 — A hard hitting instinctive LB who can really fly.

DE : Malik Puryear 6’6 - 237 - dual sport kid whose frame can take a lot of weight.Athletic big man with wing span. *Along with Whitter, the Deacs are looking to make real strides in the talent rich Piedmont Triad.

Here's another from Georgia to watch for.....
APB Jahmyr Gibbs 5' 11" 187. Plays RB, WR, CB, KR. Had 1895 total yards and 22 TDs last year....and he missed 2 games to injury. 2nd team all state (6A) and region player of the year. Attended our first Junior Day. Has offers from Michigan, Nebraska, GT, Miss St, UNC, Texas A&M and VT among others. Sprinter on the track team too. Fingers crossed he'll be a Deac.

Three 3-star guys from the Savannah area ?

Yea..that looks like a pretty fertile area for “us” as I am sure you already know.

Lots of early Southern GA action from Purdue, Maryland and I assume Iowa State to go along with WF.

We seem to be in some spirited battles to be the “first Power 5” to identify.. killer reviews on the new Deacon facilities.

In. Fingers crossed! All accounts have a tight group of 20 that came in..let’s hope it snowballs from Griffis, Puryear and Whitter..

Sofian Massoud, brother of Wake Forest Basketball commit, Ismael Massoud, has verbally committed to Rutgers. There was initial talk about the brothers wanting to attend the same University, but Clawson and the Wake Forest staff apparently did not offer Sofian a scholarship. Sofian has played QB in HS, and with Wake already having a QB commit for the 2021 class that maybe the why we are looking for, but 247 has listed him as an athlete.

I don't see anything recent on Malik Grate. Transferred to Campbell. Some cryptic comments on twitter. Whate happened? He showed a lot of promise.

That has been out there for a couple months. He wasn't playing much at all, 61 total snaps in 6 games, including special teams, before he got hurt. Clawson mentioned him in one of the comments recently about the portal and said it was there for guys like Malik who want to go somewhere to have a chance to play. Tyriq Hardimon was a year younger and a safety and they moved him over to CB and played more than Grate so expect Grate got a bit frustrated with that.

New recruit at DT !

this is a nice pickup...

Great news! This is a fantastic early commitment from a kid with multiple P5 offers and will certainly get more. Great work by the coaches.

He has listed P5 offers on 247 that include louiseville, Kentucky, UNC, and WVU. Per his Twitter, in the last few days picked up offers from Michigan, BC and Duke. Guys this is a big if one.
