Wake Forest Football Recruiting

Meanwhile, anyone have any current recruiting news, rumors or thoughts.

I.e. Anyone think we'll take anyone else in this class?
As it is now, I'm pretty pumped about this group. Looks like lots of talent in lots of areas.
If you haven't watch the whole Clawson signing day video, take some time to watch.

This..

With the early departure of Jesse Bates, it would not surprise me to see another DB added. Either a 5th year guy or another freshman. If there are unexpected departures of 4th year juniors I would expect those spots to be filled as well. Depending on position, maybe 5th year grad student from elsewhere.

This thread could really use an update from Deac 94 about our perceived needs for next month's signing period as well as priorities for the 2019 class. Would hopefully get this thread out of some of this vitriolic personal mud slinging and back on track.

If Wake takes another 2018 recruit, my educated guess is that they would take either a WR or a CB or both. But like others I haven't picked up on any specific activity. So it may be a good guess that Wake will stand pat.

It is a seller's market like has never been seen right now. Every school that had a coaching change or missed out on a 5-star or had unexpected attrition is fighting over a handful of kids that are still uncommitted. Some schools are going to be going DEEP into the talent pool to fill their classes. Before the early signing day came into play those schools would be focused almost exclusively on trying to flip kids from other programs. Now they need to find kids who are uncommitted.

2019 will be fun because of the higher number of scholarships available. So for the first time in a long time we could see something closer to one recruit at every position. QB (Clark) and Slot WR (Anthony Manning via greyshirt) may be the only positions that are filled (other than specialists). I'm sure the hunt for bigger CBs (acknowledged by Clawson) will continue in the 2019 cycle.

2019 commit Triston Miller added an offer from Tennessee recently.

So far, it looks like the early signing day has been good for Wake.
Hope it is again next year too.

A larger class should result in a higher national class rank, for the ones who solely look at that. If our first two commits are any indication, the 2019 class could be something serious for Clawson and the Deacs.

The good thing about all this is that the OGB has been educated on the meaning of the term "misapprehend" as I'm sure most looked up the term in order to verify my use of it. Silver linings and all that lol.

It does not seem that grad transfers have really worked out all that well for us. Grobe was able to bring in a DT from somewhere in Ohio that earned his keep, and the WR Scott from SC certainly was high value, but the rest seem to have been of questionable help. We lost more this year from Okonye and Jackson going elsewhere than we picked up from incomers. Maybe we can pick up a solid LB who might be buried on a depth chart, but I am not holding my breath.

Agree our graduate transfers have had limited contributions at best.
Although, if we do bring in a GT or two and they ar serviceable, is it better to have them for one year while we keep redshirts on some of our freshmen?

Good points.

BTW, look over this thread and note who all continues to keep the attacks rolling and the ad hom flowing. Just saying.

I’ve read every post on this thread. I have no idea what this argument is about. All I know is you’re participating in it.
