Wake Golf 2024 - Women’s ACC Tournament April 18-21; Men's ACCT April 19-22

Brennan is still leading. While this is far from WF's best men's golf roster, keep in mind that Mark Power who played in the Walker Cup and is either the best or second best player on the team is not playing in this event. Given how poorly the bottom two scores were each day, Power would have made big difference in WF's team score.

The rankings handle the relative strength already. He's very very good, but it's a stretch to call him the best junior in the state. I'm glad we got him though.

We did get the best women’s golfer in NC and one of the best in the country…

Congrats to Brennan.

We are putting in some SERIOUS work on the women's side of things. Let's win a damn natty.

The WF Women open their Spring Season on Sunday in Orlando.

WF women hold a 6 shot lead over an 18 team field in the UCF Challenge. Rachel Kuehn also leads the individual leaderboard.

How easy is that course? Our top 5 had 21 birdies and 8 bogies today, yesterday we had 22 birdies, 1 eagle and 6 bogies. We are -31 after two rounds - and aren't leading.

The stats are ridiculous, Kuehn birdied the last five holes to finish her round yesterday, and there are a couple other players with 19 birdies EACH.

Men and Women are trying to get W's today.

The men's team is blitzing through today and has opened up a 4 shot lead with roughly 6 holes a piece left. Power has a 3 shot lead, and Daniel Sheedy (an individual for us this week) is in 3rd. Not a great field, with only Lipscomb ranked, but still a nice notch in the belt for the early season.

The women's team is trying to run down No. 37 Northwestern over the back nine. We're one back at -35. and 6 clear of 3rd place. This is a much better field than the men's, with 11 ranked teams. Kuehn is 5 back of a UCF player who shot 64-63 the first two days.

WF men won by 9 shots against a soft field.

The women rallied late to win by 4 shots over #11 Miss. State.

This is how good the women have been since the start of the school year:

Annika Intercollegiate: 12 teams: WF #1
Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate 14 teams: WF #1
Stephens Cup 8 teams (all top teams): WF finishes #1 in stroke play, but lost to Stanford in the match play final.
Tar Heel Invite: 14 teams: WF #2
Landfall Tradition: 18 teams WF #2
UCF Challenge: 18 teams: WF #1.

So, WF has essentially faced 78 teams in different competitions this year and WF women's golf is 75-3.

The Ladies are tied in the Nexus Collegiate in the Bahamas about midway through the second round with No. 16 Auburn at +3.

Every other school is at least 13 strokes back. Pretty good field, with the following ranked teams in it:

No. 4 South Carolina
No. 9 LSU
No. 11 Ole Miss
No. 13 Arizona State
No. 19 Duke
No. 20 Oklahoma State

This team is ridiculously stacked too. Mimi Rhodes is the only individual for us not ranked by GolfStat, and she's currently in 2nd place at -1 for the tournament.

All five of our team golfers are in the top 20 currently.

Women are flexing now, up 11 shots on 2nd place, including 2nd, 3rd, and T4th individuals.

LSU started hot this AM and cut the lead to 11. Let's get some birdies on the board and stretch it out.

Deac Women win again.

By 7 shots over #9 LSU and more over eveyone else. 10 team field; 9 of the 10 teams are ranked, and WF beat them all.

FWIW, WF will not play in a tournament against #1 Stanford until and unless both make the NCAA Finals, which is in Scottsdale, AZ again in late May.

+1.

It's pretty cool that she and Morgan Ketchum (freshman at VT, also from Reagan) will likely play in some ACC events together.

Their HS team, and the rivalry between them, was special.

I've never seen someone practice as much as Morgan.
