Wake Golf 2024 - Going Back to Cali for the NCAA Title; Women: May 17-22; Men May 24-29

Jesus GT makes a bomb on 16 to win the match and the championship.

Was looking dire regardless, but that was a serious way to finish it off. Glad our boys will get their shot in regionals.

Steelman with a long birdie to clinch it for Jackets. A nice run by the Deacs.

GT played very well. Steelman was clutch. Kudos to them.

Yeah that was fun to watch minus the losing part. Some great play across the board, 3-2 loss the year after a title isn't the end of the world. Got the job done to make Regionals.

Lady Deacs NCAA regional play begins May 8 and the top 4 teams advance to the NCAA Championships:

Raleigh Regional Field (Golfstat Ranking)
Wake Forest (2)
Arizona State (11)
Florida State (14)
Florida (21)
Arizona (26)
North Texas (35)
TCU (38)
NC State (46)
Purdue (50)
Nebraska (56)
Campbell (76)
Richmond (150)

Always weird to see the golf team videos with just the 5 starters. There's usually 9-10 players on the team, just wonder how separated they feel from the competitions.

The other 5 players are out grinding on the range.

is the men's draw favorable or unfavorable?
Top 5 teams advance, and WF is the 5 seed at the Norman, OK region.

National Ranking of the teams sent to Norman:

#5 Texas Tech
#9 OU (home course)
#17 Bama
#18 Ole Miss
#29 WF
#32 Duke
#41 LSU
#44 N. Florida
#52 Colorado
#56 KS
#77 UNCW
#133 Louisiana
#183 Princeton
#270 Ark-Pine Bluff

Seems reasonably favorable.

To me its always good to have the home team be ahead of you. A home team that is the 7-10 ranked school can easily scoot into that top 5 and take a spot just because of the home course advantage.

See: women’s regional, hosted by NC State

Appears the ladies aren't really playing great today. Cream should rise over 3 rounds you'd hope.

Agreed. They have not been as dominant in recent events.

Pretty bad finish to the day also, look like we may be 5 shots back of 5th place to start round 2. And only 5 shots up from being 10th. Tricky position, will need stellar play the next 2 days to just make it to the finals.

WF has 4 of the top 7 players in a field of 66 players. Yet, no WF player finished better than T19. Not good.

5 shots isn't a big deficit but we need to bring it tomorrow

It isn't a big deficit yet, but we need to be in the top 5 going into the last round. Tomorrow needs to be a coming out party
