We do not have P5 level linebackers

Assuming Bates’s replacement has to play there will be very noticeable improvement in the Carrier Dome when he plays. He will not look like Bates but he will not look like the guy who played at ND either.

It’s not a foregone conclusion that the back field is in terrible shape only with Colburn and Robinson.
(If Bird doesn’t get healthy soon he will be further behind Colburn in the rotation. Same goes for Carney.) We don’t need them playing hurt anyway.

But no doubt we’re a heck of a lot better with them back playing if healthy.

Colburn is a fine full time back if Carney and Byrd can't play. Just need Wolford to run more.

Proper to blame something as we are dead fucking last against the rush in the ACC. Concerning to say the least.

Sawvell is no Mike Elko apparently when it comes to stopping the run.

We didn't play two of 5 top rushing offenses in the NCAA last year and our linebackers and secondary were better at gap coverage and contain which limited the big plays.

I think this is athleticism and experience at certain positions as much as coaching.

Demetrius Kemp made the Pro Football Focus Defensive Team of the Week this week for the ACC.

I actually agree with the OP that the linebackers are a very weak spot, but kind of funny timing.
