WEBB SIMPSON!

Actually pre-scandal Tiger remarked several times that he may not play in future team events. Now Tiger's image still needs help and all of a sudden he's a great teammate and everybody's pal. Voluntarily skipping a team event would hurt his image and cost him and Nike $$. It would be a distraction and Tiger hates distractions. To be a great golfer you need to be a sociopath and Tiger certainly is one but he's a smart guy and will make sacrifices to keep the media/public at bay. Whereas McIlroy, who is more talented than Tiger, loves getting distracted by everything imaginable and it showed on the course this year.

I watched some clip the other day about McIlroy's house and how it is his retreat from golf, whereas Tiger can tee off from his bedroom onto several specially designed targets in his backyard. Just shows the difference in their mentalities.

I'm not seeing how Tiger's image still needs help. He still has Nike, of course, and he picked up Rolex. He and Kuchar lit up the President's Cup and he was fully supported. There are always going to be Tiger haters but let's get real. Tiger's career is on cruise control. His only real concern is preparing for majors. In preparing for the majors he won five quality tournaments in 2013. As for the team events, Tiger loves the big stage. He may have thought when he was younger he could live without them but he seems to enjoy them now that the captains figured out he plays better with Kuch or Stricker.
