Weekly cell phone thread: NEW iPhone DISCUSSION GOES HERE

UGH...Dropped my S6 edge out of my pocket about 2 feet while stepping out of my car and cracked the back glass and a slight crack on the camera.

Apparently would cost $199.00 for Samsung to replace the back glass, but they offer 1 day turnaround.

The glass can be purchased online for around $25-30 and the replacement process seems to just involve heating the edges of the back and prying the glass off. The replacement glass comes with adhesive and seems to be a relatively simple process.

Does anyone have any experience replacing something like that?

Thanks for tips.

some quirks here and there when apps will crash but nothing like you've described, no

yeah, I was just reading an email in html (zoomed in on text) and it reloaded it (zoomed out and scrolled to top) three times before I could finish. so goddamn frustrating.

Cases cost like $30.

Wife and I both have Iphone 4s on a Verizon Family plan. We are both well past due for the upgrade. What is the most cost effective way to get new phones these days, assuming we wanted to keep our current plan?

Verizon is offering $200 off each iPhone 6 with dadngrad promo code. Basically makes them free.

My S4 is about to die. Battery life is short, GPS is slow to turn on, then shuts down unexpectedly. I was prepared to go to the S6, but I've heard meh things from Verizon employees, plus I'm angry over the non-removable battery and Samsung's getting rid of memory card option.

Really don't want to go with the iPhone. Customer the other day said he loves his LG G4. Ugh, not sure what to do.

If you can wait a bit (maybe October), there will be a new Moto X, or a new Nexus device.

Sorry to hear about your S4- I'm still rocking with the S3 for exactly the reasons that you've mentioned in that it has the removable battery cover and memory card option that the S6 is lacking. :(

The S3 IMO was the best of the best at the time and still is holding its own.

I was an S3 owner who went Moto X. Love it. Wait for the new X.

Anyone know if you can suspend a grandfathered contract with verizon? I'm guessing no...

Problem is that I'll be spending a lot of time out of the country soon (like, two weeks in the states between July-December) and that means that, of course, I won't be using my old unlimited verizon subscription. But I hate to keep shelling out $80/month when I'm literally not using it at all. Any ideas?

In the past, they've allowed temporary holds of a month or two, at least on business lines.

You could always pick up another S4 or S5 (like I did when my S4 went for a swim) on Swappa. I'm hoping the S7, which should be out in April, will bring back the SD card and removable battery.

Yeah, I've thought of that option. Probably my backup plan if it dies completely in the next month or two.

You really go through that much data? $80 gets you 10 gigs from Verizon these days. I tether all day at work and split 15 gigs with the wife - we never come close. I guess maybe if you don't have home internet? Always curious to hear how people blow through so much data on a phone.
