WF Baseball Series 1: #12 Duke | Fri: L (5-8) / Sat: W (6-3) / Sun: L (8-10) (ACCNX)

Maybe they would be raking if they stayed, but the two transfers that people has some angst over, Corona and Costello have struggled this year. Corona in particular has been mega-bad at Mizzou. Based on performance so far, there is not a transfer that would have made a difference so far had he stayed.

FWIW, I believe a fifth "C" play also transferred: Derek Crum to Florida Gulf Coast. He has been bad for FGCU:

W-L 0-1 ERA 7.50 IP 6 H 11 ER 5 ER BB 3 K 7

Transfers out have played no role in WF 2024 results.

seems some argument that Cueto may have helped so far this year.... but that's it

Cecere - graduated with eligibility, would not be drafted and transferred close to home to get his masters paid for.
Corona - draft status based on being in the field and not a DH, probably didn't have that guarantee here, especially if he wanted to play short (I know he's playing 3rd @ Mizzou, but he was the backup to Marek @ SS at Wake). and no, his fielding was not better than his hitting.
Costello - Wish he were here, but wanted to be home for his last year -
Cueto - was recruited over (brought in two catcher transfers)

Well, that doesn't address the REAL question of why we can't keep players whose last names begin with the letter 'C'. Walter has LOST me on this one !!!

Coincidence that we have no one whose last name starts with ‘C’ on the roster this year? Clearly Walter is prejudiced against the C’s!!!!!!!!

All we had to do was pitch, hit and catch better than a Little League team and we likely would have swept the series.

Yup. 14 walks, about 4 passed balls and at least 3 errors won’t help you win games. Gill even has a passed ball per inning in warmups.

What I thought as well after what seemed like Gill’s 10th or 12th trip to the backstop to retrieve a ball. But guess I was imagining things as box says only 3 WPs and 1 PB….

You can when you have bad cataracts with Fukes Dystrophy. Lens transplants are more complicated because they require a cornea. Haven't gotten them yet. I see Duke M.D. specialist next week.

After Hartle's disastrous outings vs. Duke and UVa., it's not that clear anymore that he is "top tier". Also why didn't Massey pitch Sunday vs. UVa?

I hope both of them bounce back soon. Thankfully, Burns has been as good as advertised.
