Retired US Soccer / World Cup Thread (RIP)

@rodmacneil: Eric Lichaj named Sky Sports Man of Match; gets best of H2H vs Yedlin & Newcastle. Statement game to Arena?

Time to bring Lichaj back into the fold. Incidentally, though this tweet states that he got the best of Yedlin, from all reports DeAndre had a fantastic game of his own and may have been Newcastle's best player in game in which NUFC played with nine men for the entirety of the second half.

The U17s dominated Turkey 5-1 yesterday, setting up a showdown with Brazil tomorrow. A win or draw earns us the tourney title

I also think its time all these 28-32 year old superstars that have been in "the doghouse" to finally contribute to this teams success. Sucks knowing we've been without all these great players for so long, further hampering our status as a potential world power in soccer.

This is a joke, right?

When do we think they're going to announce the site for the March qualifier?

Just annoying to continuously cycle through guys approaching or passing 30 who have had chances and for whatever reasons haven't stuck. If we're relying on these guys to get us to WC18, we have no chance of any kind of showing there.

Artificial surface. Will they sod over it for this?

Edit- apparently not:

"In May 2005, the first artificial turf surface was installed at Finley Stadium, after eight seasons with a natural grass field. In 2015, the surface was replaced with AstroTurf’s state-of-the-art 3D Xtreme product. Along with an UltraBase system underneath the surface, Davenport Field now has one of the best playing surfaces in the country. In 2015, Finley Stadium also partnered with EcoChemical to create a system for paint conversions to happen seamlessly between soccer and football."
