Ron Wellman meets the media.

The thing about Wellman is that when you consider the constant conference restructuring and Wake's relatively small size/fanbase, I wouldn't be surprised if his long term connections with the NCAA and the conference are basically being dangled in front of the BOT as reasons to retain him/not question him.

Of course, what's the fucking point of any of it if our teams are garbage?

Thru reading between the lines with a couple people I've talked to -- Wellman did indeed play a game of chicken with the BoT and they swerved first.

Nobody flat out said that to me, but that is what I inferred from the conversations. So, I can't 100% say this is true, but I think it is at least somewhat likely.

"“He wanted to know why he was fired and I told him that it was because of the lack of success in the post-season.” - Ron Wellman

He is absolutely, 100%, a liar.

Completely agree. That's his job. His job is absolutely to lie about why he fired Dino.

Pretty simple. There's the faction of this board that believe and repeatedly state that Wellman is a complete moron, a liar, an idiot, that he has dementia, etc. They also call [Redacted] a loser, a total failure at life, a complete joke, etc.

Then I think there's fair criticism that supports the firing of [Redacted] without stooping to that kind of extremist (and ridiculous) noise. Not only do I think it's bullshit, but it also detracts from the legitimate arguments that action should have been taken.

If the action you're talking about isn't hiring and retaining Bz, then what are you arguing about?

My source at Mater Dei has confirmed it.

If that's true, the BOT is made up of a bunch of pussies. Wellman is killing Wake athletics. Who care about connections?

Dude, it's clear that he's saying that making personal attacks against Ron and Bzd detracts from the stat and result based arguments that Bzd should be fired.

Let's all just stop arguing. Let's unite in our hatred.

that's got nothing to do with you understating, or me overstating the level of talent that [Redacted] inherited. Your pov on the subject, laying blame on Dino for a lack of talent/culture, is the type what gives Wellman the credence and gall to compare our situation to Indiana's. The deeper you/Wellman claim the hole is that [Redacted] has to climb out of, the longer we're going to have to suffer that fool. Not that your opinion (or any of ours) has any bearing on the decision making.

Is having a fan base that gives a rat's ass of real value to a college basketball program?

For over two years I've been posting that if [Redacted] didn't reach 18 wins this year that he should have been fired immediately and that if he wasn't Wellman should have been fired.

I haven't changed my position.

We have to deal with the reality that common sense wasn't used.

Believe what you want. Ari was (and still is) garbage. Ty was garbage and a total mental case, tweeting about having bad feelings about injuries in upcoming games. JTT was raw and played zero defense. Gary Clark was a one dimensional player. CJ was solid but unspectacular. Travis was our best player as a freshman. The team had no viable point guard and no viable center.

You're getting into whether we should have sucked or if we should have REALLY sucked with that roster. It's a boring argument. That's not a winning recipe in any league, so I could give a shit if you think Wake could have won 4 more games that year. Those guys played man defense against Stetson and gave up a mind-boggling 90 points to them. [Redacted] may suck as a coach, but at some point you have to hold players accountable. Then when those players start getting DUI's and robbing dorms, just maybe there's some responsibility issues there.

BeachBum, that wasn't clear based on DCDeac's posts on this thread such as this one.

Thank you. Yes. 1-24 is as damning as any argument could possibly be when paired with [Redacted]'s history. When you make it about bike accident retardation and [Redacted] being a life-long buffoon it just waters down the effort.

Our effort doesn't matter anyway.

And [Redacted] IS a lifelong buffoon.

RJ, nobody gives a flying fuck about your position on this. You marginalized yourself completely when you turned on the BzOut movement after they made fun of your stupid toilet and petition ideas.

Hahaha so fucking true. #ToiletsOUT

That's a strong way to say that RJ was just being RJ. It takes a nation of RJ's to hold us back!

If Bz had squeaked out 5 more wins this year he still would need to be fired. That is the reality. 13 wins or 18 wins, the guy is coaching above his pay grade. It is obvious to pretty much everyone outside of Ron Wellman apparently. Putting a win total as the break even is the wrong approach. Look at the schedule, look at player improvement, watch press conferences, check out the recruiting trail. Yes wins matter, but 20 wins with a soft schedule might be worse than 15 wins with a tough schedule. Of course we have improved some since the first season, because we were an epic failure in Bz's first year. Now we are just at failure level. We are light years away from where we were in Dino's last year. Light years. That team would beat this years team by 20 points on a neutral court.

It is all so sad.

Once again you miss the point. The toilet idea was a jumping off point. It would have gotten and likely internet coverage. It would have been less threatening and more effective than doing nothing at that point.

You also forget my concept of starting with 10-20 BuzzOut T-Shirts at games and growing to hundreds by the end of the season.

If the petition was done properly, we'd have 2500-7500 signatures from all over the country.

But you guys are so right, having an organized, growing movement makes less sense than ads and billboards after the decision had already been made.

Yep. it's really much better to take birth control pills after the woman is pregnant than before she had sex.

LOL.

So, RJ, when exactly was the decision made? Surely you must know since your entire argument in favor of your awful ideas is based on that pivotal date?

If your organization has someone who's job is to lie, then your organization has a "culture" problem. There is a difference in "spinning", "dancing around the truth", and lying. Ron Wellman is a liar and if you think that should be an acceptable part of the "culture" of Wake Forest University, I don't know what to say.
