Bz Says He Will Continue to Improve the Program, Dan has Resurfaced!

Didn't someone say [Redacted] got trapped in an elevator or something and thought someone was trying to murder him?

BuzzOut signs on campus are not threatening. Nobody here literally wants to harm Bz....

I agree with Bilas on a lot of his points. The lunatic fringe and this whole debacle and fan reaction of some really has poisoned the water at wake. It could have been handled a lot better, especially considering the whole buzz out movement has produced zero results for 4 years. It's sad that we are now considered one of the worst fan bases in the country. It's obvious wellman is ignoring most everyone now, probably because he's written us ALL off as lunatic fringe. Which is really only a few.

Please identify these alleged "few" members of the so called lunatic fringe.

The well. The idiom is "Poisoned the well."

Ugh, horrible post. RW needs to free us from this purgatory so we don't have to read this shit from our own.

"Below Wake fans..." oh so you mean you want LOWF to continue just like a lot of the media does Jay? Not surprised.

Nobody cares about this at all. Most national writers have said that Wake fans are completely justified. The well is certainly not poisoned. People who say stuff like that obviously haven't gone through what this fan base has gone through with [Redacted]. It's easy to sit there and say "oh shame on them" when you're not watching the team night in and night out. It's far more difficult to do that when you're devoted to the team and pull for the team consistently to win, only to find your team losing by 30 to Georgia Tech on the road.

Are you Bilas' wife?

Bilas: I could understand it at some big football school. But this, to me, is beneath Wake and their people.

Nice backhanded face slap by a Dookie. The implication is Wake is not a big athletics school - in any sport - and therefore, should be happy with less than mediocre results. I seem to recall - even though there wasn't the internet at the time - Dookies weren't pleased with their coaching for a number of years:

Bucky Waters, who took over for Vic Bubas, was a top assistant coach. He lasted three years, but was a great recruiter. However, a lot of his recruits transferred (one guy went to Harvard indicating he did not like the quality of Duke academics! Got to love it.) It should be noted, many of the Duke transfers were top players / scorers on their new teams (unlike a lot of the Wake transfers). In his last season, the Duke fans would chant during the games "Bye, bye, Bucky. We're glad to see you go!"

I ask...what's the difference Jay?

For the record, Neil McGeachy (Waters' assistant) lasted a season. Bill Foster was next, lasted five, and then took the South Carolina job (replacing Frank McGuire).

I would also point out after going 3-11 and 4-10 in his second and third years in the ACC, Coach K wasn't receiving a whole lot of love from the Duke supporters.

Bilas has a very short term memory....

Bilas's freshmen and sophomore years, no? I mean, I agree with your sentiment, and Bz is obviously no K, but he's suggesting more patience with a coach he seems to genuinely believe can cut it. He just happens to be wrong.

There was an organization that formed urging K's firing. That is the only real similarity. K had rougher times starting out than you might think, but K was young and had potential. Buzz is not young, and has yet to show potential.

More shocking and embarassing than the fringe or the billboards, was the HIRING of Buzz by Wellman in the first place. That was so bizarre among sports fans that it was actually embarrassing, and I think moreso than the fans reaction to the expected result of that embarrassing hire. Especially when combined with the firing of Dino and the reasosn given. Peopel who anythign about basketball everywhere were saying WTF???
