Official 2016 MLB Season Thread (Nats Blow It Again)

I want the stove to get hot. The next two weeks will be most of the fun I'll have all season.

Pickins are pretty slim. You have a potential firesale from the Reds/Brewers, Julio Tehran, some quality bullpen guys, and that's it.

the rays have a lot they could move and are prone to selling out of the basement. some speculation longo could be avail, but i seriously doubt he is. but you have a bunch of starters avail there as well.

Anyone interested in a slightly used Jeremy Hellickson?

Phans favorite player, Dan Vogelbach flipped to the Mariners for Mike Montgomery.

Interested to see when/if they call up Vogelbach this year.

el oh el

and rays fans everywhere cry because they transitive property traded for vogelbach...

vogelbach is MY BOY

pretty excited for him. i'm really glad he wasn't traded to NYY, where he would've been competing with bird (another favorite of mine!) next year

just checked, I snagged vogelbach with pick #64 in my league's 2011 amateur draft. pretty happy with that.

also it got me all nostalgic and i was looking through past drafts, and i came across my BEST DRAFT EVAR, from 2009:
Round 1, Pick 6: SP Matt Purke, TEX*
Round 1, Pick 11: SP Shelby Miller, STL
Round 1, Pick 26: SP James Paxton, TOR*
Round 2, Pick 25 (#57 overall): SS Billy Hamilton, CIN
Round 2, Pick 28 (#60): SP Sam Dyson, OAK**
Round 2A, Pick 3 (#63): SP Garrett Richards, LAA
Round 4, Pick 6 (#132): SP Steven Matz, NYM

*didn't sign, compensatory pick awarded in 2010
**didn't sign, compensatory pick not awarded

...used the 2010 picks to take Nick Castellanos and Matt Lipka, you win some, you lose some

anyway yeah, i really wish paxton and dyson had signed that year

/brag

Marlins were in on him before he went 8 innings against them last night, no?

Not a bad audition! Plus the Phillies are willing to keep salary, and we all know how the Marlins feel about money.

Looks like 13-0's gon die, Strasburg getting smacked around this afternoon

Kind of an odd response to all the arm problems for starters

Supposedly the White Sox were offered an amazing deal for Sale and they said No. Not sure where they think they are going in the next two years.

Well they have him for three. Can you blame them for likely wanting major league talent to move the best pitcher in the AL on a 3/38 after this one?
