Great weekend of work for the Deacs

Wake just finished a 3 day tourney in Mexico against a strong field of 15 teams.

WF finished 5th behind OK State, Baylor, Texas and Washington. WF finished ahead of the other two ACC teams in the field (Duke and FSU). WF also beat #1 Vandy and #5 UGA.

Zalatoris finished tied for 7th and Paul McBride finished 12th. Eric Bae carded a 9 on the par 4 13th on the way to rough 83. WF is currently #18 and should move up based upon this showing in Mexico.

The era of unwiped Haas continues. Probably the most overlooked failure of the current athletic department due to the success of Bill and Webb (and the coach's last name).

Strange time to complain about golf when we have been ranked in the top 10-15 for most of the past 3-5 years.

Actually it looks like they ended up T-3, thanks to very late stumbles by Texas and Washington.

In our most storied, and previously dominant, athletic program, we've won zero ACC and zero NCAA championships under Haas, since he took over in 97. During that time, GT has won 11 ACC championships and Clemson 6.

Zero top 20 NCAA finishes since 2006. Haven't even made it out of regionals since 2009.

Golf is an unusual animal as a team sport, but the lack of postseason results has to fall on the coach at some point.

It's well known in colllege golfing circles that wake owns the Hackler!

They apparently played two round yesterday and reduced the tourney to 36 holes so the deacs pick up a nice team title over a pretty solid field. The Hackler is our bitch!

The guys gutted out the win from a surging OkState to win the Valspar by 1 stroke. We were 4 over on the day and they were 6 under. The 18th gave us trouble the entire tournament.

Close one, but a win.
2 in a row.
We're good again

looks like the 18th gave everyone trouble -- the top 5 teams (WF, GT, OK St, Texas, LSU) played it a collective 15 over par today. Only McBride birdied it which ultimately was our margin of victory.

It actually came down to #5 Bae for Wake with a bogey and #1 Ventura for Ok St. with a double bogey for the title.
