Cyrus Stewart just started off with a birdie on 1 (par 5), and a 1 on 2 (235 yd par 3). 3 under after 2.

This cannot be right, the stats have Womble shooting a 41 on the third hole.

We are in next to last.

Season over.

Fire Haas.

Wake athletes should be required to go to a Marine-type boot camp. Toughness under pressure seems to be a pervasive problem.

Wake currently in a tie for 5th with Minnesota and FSU at -2.

1. Georgia Tech (-9)
2. Washington (-8)
3. South Alabama (-5)
4. Texas A&M (-3)
T5. Minnesota (-2)
T5. FSU (-2)
T5. Wake Forest (-2)
8. Texas Tech (E)
9. Memphis (+1)
10. Bethune Cookman (+2)

Wake has all their guys within three shots of each other which is good in case someone makes a mistake.

Is there really an advantage to winning versus coming in 5th? Obviously you could have increased recruiting efforts, but aren't all teams starting on an even playing field at the NCAA Championships?

Wake is notorious for having one player each round blow up. Puts a lot of pressure on the top 4 to score well.

You get the trophy for the East Regional and you're the champion of a regional. Other than that, no.

Wake's seeded eighth in the region and through just over half of day one sits in a tie for fourth. Good start. They resume this round at 9:30 tomorrow morning and round two starts thirty minutes after.

Current Standings:

1. Georgia Tech (-14) - 5th in country
2. Washington (-10) - 8th in country
3. South Alabama (-5)
T4. Texas A&M (-3) - 20th in country
T4. Texas Tech (-3) - 41st in country
T4. Wake Forest (-3) - 44th in country
7. Florida State (E) - 17th in country
8. Minnesota (+1)
T9. Kentucky (+2) - 32nd in country
T9. Bethune Cookman (+2)
11. Memphis (+3)
12. Mercer (+5) - 29th in country
