Pit Cruising Thread

One of my staff is from India. She's from the northern part near Nepal, but said the Windjammer Indian was the best southern Indian food she'd had since she moved away 20 years ago.

I'm usually pretty good at eating all different food but never gravitated anywhere near Indian food.
I just always put my dislike for curry in the way but after all your comments I have to give it a shot.

Bougie post coming. On RC, I prefer Coastal Kitchen, their suite only specialty restaurant. If the ship is older or smaller and CK is not an option, I prefer the MDR. We only hit up the buffet if the other options aren't available. However, the buffet on RC has some amazing Indian food.

We got really spoiled doing Royal Caribbean cruises on Oasis-Class ships in 'Star Class'.

The perks were/are truly unreal, but the price has certainly caught up to the experience.

The first time we (4 of us, staying in an Aquatheater 2BR Suite) did Star Class, it was around $6k for the week. Now, it's closer to $30k for the group.

... So, I think we've done our last one for a while.

The next time my wife and I cruise, we're going to go the cheapest route possible and seriously limit our expectations.

I feel ya. We did a 2br Stern suite on Indy during the covid restart for 6k. Now, the same suite is close to 15k.

We've really been lucky by using the casino offers through Club Royale. Mrstsy and I both get offers that we can combine for a balcony room. We can then royal up to a suite for half the cost of the room. It's allowed us to cruise in luxury over the past year without paying the full price.

Leaving tomorrow to embark on Friday. First time cruising with friend. @Liquid Karma and I should have some fun stories.

The Mrs. and I have CocoBeach Club reservations on CocoCay. Looking forward to a new experience.

Still haven't decided if we are going to join y'all at the beach club.

to add to this, the little "restaurant-ettes" around the ships have good snack/finger foods/small sandwiches too, which are all included in your cruise fare
on Royal, it is the Royal Promenade Cafe with these goodies or Central Park Cafe on Oasis class ships.
NCL has the Irish pub/bar that is open 24 hours with free food
Celebrity has Cafe al Bacio, where you have to pay for specialty coffees but the little snacks in the window are free (canapes, mini-sandwiches, cookies, brownies, etc.)
I know Carnival has more free options for food than the MDR as well, but I've never cruised them so don't want to misspeak on what is included in the cruise fare

Also keep in mind that the buffets also have themed nights and their head chef walks around during peak hours to talk to the guests. If you catch her/his ear then maybe you can get a dish on the buffet the next night. ...it has happened before.

DO IT.

Seriously.

We balled out unnecessarily for an overwater cabana coming out of Covid but we soon realized we would have been just as happy at the CocoBeach Club. The food was spectactular.

Do it.
I'd love to do an over water cabana if we could ever get 6-8 people to go in together. That, combined with the CocoBeach Club benefits would make it very economical. I just can't justify it for 2-3 of us.

We have done a Viking river cruise on the Rhine and it was fantastic. We were the youngest people on board but everything was top notch. We did a Viking ocean cruise in 2021 and that was great as well, although the larger crowd isn’t as much fun. (It’s still a tiny ocean ship.). Just signed up for a Nile trip spring of 2024 so that will be cool. We added a Jordan extension and get to go to Petra.

we'd do it again with other people for sure, but never again by ourselves.
we saw so many amazing animals in and around the walkways tho, including some baby reef sharks (maybe 2 or 3 feet long) and spotted eagle rays. was awesome to show the kid marine life from the safety of the dock. haha

I'm seriously considering and beginning to plan the Tauck, Blue Danube Trip, Prague to Budapest Spring of '24. Small fortune indeed and a stretch for us but I went Tauck to Italy 10 years ago and it was incredible. And as a relatively olde bastard, not sure how many European trips I have in me. Can't take it with ya.

DV7 sure does know how to run an effective ponzi scheme.

After 2 delays, we finally landed in Orlando. Thanks Frontier!

I really can't complain too much, the flight was $27.

You get what you pay for.
