Republicans for POTUS, 2016 Edition

Tell that to the people just polled who said they would vote for him over Walker and Trump (by 21%). That doesn't have anything to do with Sanders and Clinton playing nice, although I agree he might accrue more baggage between now and then if the primary were competitive but so will Walker and Bush.

Maybe he's picking up some votes due to the unfavorability of Bush, Walker, and Trump, but the democrat-socialist isn't hurting him now it appears. He also has the highest unknown percentage I believe of viable candidates - something like 41% don't know who he is. It's under 5% for Trump.

One of Jeb's advisors on CNN saying Trump is only up in the polls because of the media. Cooper says that it's on the GOP for letting him gain a foothold. I agree with Anderson - GOP wants someone like Trump in there and the GOP invited crazy like him. They made the bed and now it's time to lie in it. Trump Organization EVP is going in too and is quite cocky and full of himself (as one would expect)

Re: Sanders I think it has to do with how the 40% "unknown" breaks down. I personally believe Sanders has higher ratings than people think because America has a socialist streak that has been almost wholly untapped by any national election. I think the number of socialists and socialist-type thought in America is considerably higher than middle-class white suburbanites would choose to believe.
 
Bush advisor just lying now, saying Bush has had the best gaggle and most press coverage. Cooper can't keep a straight face and said that's just not true and he cannot agree with that because Trump has had far more media coverage.

Both these people are what I would expect Bush and Trump to put out. Trump sent out the snarky over-the-top conservative who sat in the back of political theory classes and loved to watch the world burn, while Bush sent out a Hispanic woman who has a short fuse, can't believe Trump is successful with the populace, and is bemoaning the failure of traditional party politics.

This is going to be a blast to watch over the next year and a half.
 
how have polling methods changed in the last decade or so? do they only call landlines? I said the same thing during the Cain and Santorum bumps but I just have hard time believing these numbers.
 
I'm not caught up in recent polling but I would suspect landline calls would skew conservative rather than liberal IIRC my quantitative analysis courses from poli sci. Although there may be a few earth mothers who have a landline and not a cell

Trump's legal team are clear winners so far since they'll have plenty of work. Why would anyone associated with a presidential campaign want to parse or minimize rape? Or focus attention on their candidate's messy personal life? That's what ultimately sunk Newt and Cain, not their nutty policies.

Trump may or may not be in for the duration, but it's shocking that he and/or his team weren't prepared for all kinds of personal dirt. How many elections have they actually followed? Palin rattled the saber many times about suing but even she knew enough not to open herself up to questions under oath.

People upset about Trump giving out Lindsey Graham's cell phone are going to be in for a big surprise. Trump and his people only believe in scorched earth and it won't be pretty whenever they feel threatened. Rumors about Jeb's infidelities and his daughter's drug problems will be inartfully played by Trump's campaign at some point. That Cohen guy is a dumb ass goon, but Trump won't fire him. GOP field is weak and nobody is willing to stand up to Trump lest he runs as a third party. Never mind splitting votes in the general election, HRC is just happy that Trump is firing on 15 other wannabes right now rather than focusing on her. Trump's youngest is still a kid, but his oldest kids work for him and he has a college age daughter. They've gotta be thrilled their moms will somehow be dragged into the cesspool at some point. Knew that Newt was having an affair during the Monica era, but had no idea it had been going on for six years!?! Why would his wife want him to run? Same thing with Palin allowing her youngest to be strapped to Bristol to hide her baby bump. Why run when you know there are obvious personal dramas that won't play well among social conservatives in Iowa?

Literally reminds me to a T of two specific kids from Wake who propped their feet up on their desk while bloviating about libertarianism in political theory class.

2002ish, if I recall correctly - he publicly denied the rumor. She was head of some state agency (don't remember which one though) - it was all over Tallahassee. Around the same time, his daughter was arrested for illegally buying some kind of prescription drug and then got caught with drugs while in rehab.
