The Leftovers on HBO

Yeah, after a couple of years, it's definitely likely that roving packs of dogs would be taking down magical deer that break into homes and destroy kitchens.

Also pigeons would logically tell down and out folks to cash in at casinos of their choosing.

The dogs mean something without a doubt. There are too many subtle references to them (notice how the casino robber literally howls at the table, for example)

Bottom line, for a show to nod to all sorts of supernatural stuff but boil down to "everyone is just fucked up" is toying with the audience for no good reason, and that's going to get old real fast.

The deer was the Sheriff, he did that himself. His dad is a nutjob and so is he, he sees things like his father.

I have to believe that there will be some kind of supernatural payoff at some point. I understand that the show is more about the characters dealing with what they've lost, but they've put too much groundwork in at this point to not have some crazy shit go down.

Maybe like LOST supernatural, like stuff that could actually happen but its unexplained at first?

Just caught up with the last two episodes...definitely agree that the Gladys murder was one of the most gruesome scenes I've seen on TV. Just...sickening.

And add to that the first scene last week with Nora buying the groceries and replacing/throwing away the unused items, just gut wrenching.

Really enjoyed Theroux's acting the last few episodes, same with Nora. The show definitely cast well

Two good things about the latest episode

Would like a better shot of those.

Also they gotta resolve the son's storyline. I like the actor but his story just sucks. Wayne and his hugs are also weird.

I'm with Sepinwall all the way on this show now, don't consider any of the supernatural stuff to be related, although its interesting father and song both had hand wounds.

Sheriff's gonna do his daughters friend in a black out. Bad things man.

It's just weird...they are purposefully throwing things in to SEEM important or symbolic yet there's not going to be anything to them.

Anyone notice all the young girls wearing blue tank tops the entire show? The Asian incubators and Jill and her friend.

Any guesses as to the National Geographic stuff?

The sheriff's son looks like the love child of Tim Riggins and Tom Brady.

Saw that the leftovers was renewed by hobo for season 2. Still really digging this show

It would have been strange if it wasn't, it gets better ratings than some of HBO's other programs.

I do need to catch up on this show and see if I'm in for a second season. I've made it through three episodes so far and I am less than impressed.

If you were less than impressed w/ the preacher's episode, you need to stop watching.
